The graduating Class of 1965 would like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and the staff for the interest and co-operation which they have extended to us in the past. Their sincere concern for our future well-being has filled our years at Carrabelle School with profound and lasting impressions. We hope that this publication of the Tarpon” will supply you with fond memories in the coming years. BECAUSE WE ARE GRATEFUL WE DEDICATE THIS BOOK, MRS. RUTH HANCE We dedicate our annual to Mrs. Ruth Hance who was our homeroom teacher in the seventh and eighth grades. We owe her our thanks for helping us through those first vital years. She devoted many years of service to Carrabelle High and we are certain that others are just as grateful to her. We hope you will enjoy this annual Mrs. “Ruth”, and again we say, thank you so very much! ANNUAL STAFF Darlyn Spiers Editor ADMINISTRATION PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE You have completed another year of your formal education at Carra-belle High School. For the upperclassman, it will mark your entrance into the world of work or into schools to continue your formal education. For the underclassman, it is a time to evaluate your past performance and reset goals that will ultimately shape your future. The 1964-65 school year is history. How well you have “played the game” will be born out daily as you live your life. Joseph R. Worden You, the Seniors of Carrabelle High School, with your diploma soon to be placed in your hands, will be candidates for truth or candidates for smugness of completion or for the eagerness of continued learning, candidates for commencement, not finality. I hope and trust that you will continue to search for truth, that you will go forth eagerly as constructive citizens, true to your school, your country and your God. 1 trust that you will willingly admire those things which are true and beautiful and in turn make them a part of your life. I can see it all now. Miss Warthan and Miss Valencino meet together and drive off in a Chartered Bus. These will be the events of their trip: Before leaving Carrabelle, they will stop by Pine Log Village and pick up Judy. She and Ronnie have been happily married for quite some time now. Take care of the twins while I'm gone, Ronnie”, she tells him. Keep them away from the alligators. Then she turns to us and says, You know, you never can trust those gators. As the bus leaves Carrabelle, they first cruise through Eastpoint where they find Reed. They nearly didn't recognize him. For you see, he now weighs 225 lbs. ! He is home on leave from the Navy. He is waiting outside his father's filling station eating a Baby Ruth. He climbs on the bus and plops down in two seats!! Tally Ho! , he yells, Get this show on the road! Now as they stop at Otter Lake in Panacea, they see Betty Sue and Emmett. They have been married now for ten years and live in a cute little house. They invite Miss Warthan and Miss Valencino in for a cup of coffee, but there just isn't time. On their first stop in Tallahassee, they visit Darlyn at her six bedroom trailer. As she gets ready to leave, she gives last minute instructions to John and their four little Hances. She loads the bus and as she does she tells them, Don't let the dogs in the trailer, John, you watch the kids, make them behave and brush their teeth . . . BYE!!! While still in Tallahassee, they go by to pick up Lilly. As she loads the bus, she tells them of her success as an I. B. M. operator until about five years ago when she met and married a perfectly marvelous man. Now she lives in a five bedroom brick home with her husband and their three children. Hurry! , she says as she gets on the bus, I've been waiting for this for a long time. One more stop in Tallahassee and they'll be off again. Now they must pick up Mike. He and a girl named Kim were married just a few months ago. They finally have to drag him on the bus and off they go again. (You know how newlyweds are.) continued . . . Now they must go over to Daytona Beach where they find Melburn. He has been a very successful stock car racer for the past six years. On the side he sings folk songs in the basement of his apartment building. He grabs his guitar, kisses his racer goodbye, and they're on their way again. As they go down to the outskirts of Miami, they see the results of Barbara's (Mademoiselle Barbara') distinguished work. The billboards display her exotic fashions. She comes now wearing one of her latest originals. As the bus rolls on, she slips into a seat beside Lilly and they start to reminisce back through the years. As they leave Florida they stop off at Mobile, Alabama. There they find Dana at the largest Army Flight Base in the world. He was the first man to fly 90,000 miles per hour in the Super-super-super-Sonic Jet. He comments as he gets on the bus, Ah, shucks, it was nothing. Their next stop is Cottonwood, Alabama where they find Henry. He kisses Janice and their three children good-bye. Have a nice time, says Janice. As the bus drives off we hear faint little voices, Good-bye, Daddy!!! They find it hard to believe that Linda made it as far as she did. Going to the White House in Washington, D. C., they see her typing a letter for the First Lady President, Mrs. Ringo Starr. Over the intercom, they hear, Miss Carroll, you may go now, but before you do, don't forget to close the White House door. They now go up to Indiana and pick up Jeff. He is now working at a tomato canning factory. I'm ready , he says, just let me get a few more free cans of tomatoes for our trip. Their last stop is fabulous New York. Ten years ago when they went on their Senior Trip, they just couldn't hold Pearl in Washington D. C. She just had to go on to New York. They haven't seen her since that day. But now they finally locate her. She is working at a night club called the Alley Cat. She is a little reluctant to leave, but she ties a red ribbon in her long blonde hair, wraps up in her furs, and kisses everybody good-bye. Now the bus leaves for Carrabelle. I can tell, that this will be a very interesting class reunion. Good Luck, Folks Miss Unknown ADVERTISERS We the graduating class of 1965 would like to show our appreciation to Mrs. Dorothy Hawkins, who has been so willing to help us through our high school years.
