This publication has been a challenge to us, but in it we hope you will find warm happy memories of classmates, teachers, activities, and events that were part of school life at Carrabelle High in 1962-63. We sincerely hope that you will treasure this book and the many beautiful memories which it holds. We truly appreciate the help of each and everyone who made this publication possible. God bless you and may you always keep your chin up and work towards a better life. Editor and Assistant Editor Excitement takes place here: Basketball -Dances - Physical Ed. - We, the class of '63, dedicate our annual to our beloved Uncle John to show in small measure our appreciation of his efforts in our behalf. His patience, good-humor, and understanding have been untiring. Truly he is one of whom we can say: Our friend given by God in mercy and in love; Our counsellor, our comforter, and guide; Our joy in grief, our second bliss in joy; Companion of our young desires; in doubt Our oracle; our wings in high pursuit. t! c° ... « ” , . SEAFOOD CLASS PRjOPWECV As the smoke cleared from the earth's only nuclear war, I felt the strange sensation that I was alive. As I organized my muddled thoughts, I realized that I had remained to see the aftermath of the holocaust. Finally I got to my feet w-ondering if I could face the threat of possible death to radioactivity. The red-tinted fallout particles began to float in a mist like neon signs on a foggy night in my home town. My attention turned to my C'belle High School ring which seemed to be putting out a shield as if it were protecting me from the awful death of radioactivity. Suddenly I realized that my ring was protecting me and that somewhere my former classmates must be alive, too. In my desolation I began to run wildly through the fog andfnist. Out of the skies two brilliant rays bounced off my ring, and I halted to gaze at a small flying cup which landed beside me. Lo and behold, out walked three of the most stunning men I’ve ever seen. When they removed their walnut-looking fish bowls, I saw Winkie, Gary, and Buford. They insisted that I leave with them. Floating away in the flying cup, they explained that they had joined the air force after graduation and had been captured by the friendly inhabitants of Mortaleum, a planet on the outskirts of the plantoid, Atlantis. Since then Winkie had become Pres, of their society, and Gary was now the ever mongering captain of Mortaleum, and Brax was the genius who translated Mortaleum into English. We sailed across the sky for hours seeing nothing except death and destruction. My eyes were clouded with nostalgic thoughts as we landed in what was once the Green Bay Packers stadium. As we looked more closely, we saw a lone figure standing on the goal line clutching a battered pigskin. Little Jep explained that he was busy combing his hair before the game with the Bears, and the entire world seemed to collapse. Jep joined us as Winkie grinned his kitten-like smile, Gary wiggled his sexy ears, and Brax winked as he turned on the television phone. Almost immediately Johnny Rube and Ruth appeared seated on Strontiums ninety thrones with pluntonium jewels embedded in their purple plastic clothes. They said that they had figured it out in Uncle John's chem. class and had rubbed highly powered green krypton on the sets of our rings. They are the Duke and Duchess of Atlantis, and they felt certain our classmates were alive somewhere. They faded off the screen as Winkie informed us that we would stop at the next outerspace cup station to refill. We soon pulled up to a handsome satellite on the milky way. Bouncing out in a frayed space suit, Fred greeted all of us. He had been running the space station since the disappearance of cars in 1990. He grinned shyly as he told us of his recent discovery. He accidentally found that distilled Gulf water made excellent fuel for flying cups. He invited us into his completely solar heated and cooled home, and we were astounded to see Nancy. She was sitting at the controls of an automatic baby sitter. As she pushed buttons, doors slid open and seventeen children were sent sliding to their seats by conveyer belts. I'll never forget how pleased she looked as she put tender loving care into each button she punched. Our tank filled, we soared toward earth again. We decided to take a closer look at St. George's Is. We approached the island and down below Brax spotted a small object. We saw Deanna in a mink polka dot bikini soaking up the sun on a small raft made of missile war heads. By her side was a man whose build closely resembled Mr. Universe. It seemed that Deanna had found this beautifully bodied man wandering through East Point and he had lost his memory. To help him she built her little raft and took off with him. Slowly the creature began to speak and said, I am the great LeVon Clark. I left Carrabelle, took a Charles Atlas course, have been playing ball with the Celtics, and an evil witch from the boondocks of La. put a hex on me for making 900 points in one season and said it would last until the sky turned pink, and now it is, so I'm o. k. As we flew over outer Mongolia, the radar began to pop, and crackle. We settled on-a snow capped peak of a small mountain. We alighted from the cup and we trudged across the pink snow toward four objects. Four women in Peace Corps uniforms were sitting in a circle. Marie, Sarah, Kathy, and Mary called to us. We greeted them as Sarah told us of her book Modern Living for the Twentieth Century Girl. She had joined the Peace Corps with Kathy who just divorced her fourth husband. Mary told us that she had taken seven world cruises and became bored, so she had gone overboard and swam to Greece where she had met Marie polishing statues on Crete. Mary and Marie joined the Corps after finishing all of the statues on the island. After they met in Tibet, they decided that people were too obnoxious to even talk to, so they began having big snowball fights one after another for several weeks. They refused to leave with us, so we left them still laughing. Then the earth turned black. I've told this story several times, now, and no one seems to believe me. I'll let you judge for yourself as they wrap me in my white, long armed, radium, jacket, adjust the buckles, place me on the green fabric stretcher, and take me down the long hallway lit with orange neon to my exile on the planet Juliver. Guess my blonde hair will turn purple out there in space where ammonia envelopes the planets, who cares, the only people still living are my classmates and our faithful doctor - I believe his name is UNCLE JOHN. ClASS U riL We, the Senior Class of Carrabelle High School, in this year of 1963, do hereby, make this our last will and testament. I, Buford Braxton, will my ability to play basketball to Marty.
