The Seniors of 1957 wish to dedicate this edition of The Tarpon to Miss Martha Pugh. We appreciate her loyalty to us throughout Junior and Senior years when others turned us down. Sometimes we made her regret her decision, but she still stood by us. So all the Seniors join in saying: Thank you, 'Chief, ' for making our last two years in school joyful years.

TO THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1957: Three men were making a trip into an unknown country. One was not very enthusiastic about the trip in the first place. The second man had cajoled him into coming along because of his own enthusiasm, while the third had planned carefully for the journey. The men came to a river over which there was no bridge. The first man who was so overwhelmed by the problem of crossing that the words of his friends could no longer overcome his apathy. He picked up his few belongings and started on the way back. The second man, full of enthusiasm, immediately plunged into the stream swimming strongly. However, in his rush he failed to take into consideration the heavy pack on his back, and when he reached the middle of the stream he tired and sank from sight, never to reappear. The third man, after careful preparation pushed on and successfully crossed to the other side where he became a famous man. As you leave school you are taking a trip into an unknown country. How will you act when you come to your first river of no bridge ? Good luck to each of you on your journey. W. R. Durden
