CLASS GRUMBLES OF '51 Why does Mrs. Hance give such hard General Math tests? Basil wants to know why we have to study to make good grades? There must be some easier way! 1 Vernon wants to know why he can't sit by Mona in General Math? (Is it because he talks too much?) Julia wonders why Mr. McGehee doesn't leave her alone!! Opal wants to know why Miss Mac doesn't have the typewriters fixed so they will spell correctly? Curly gripes because he isn't a better shot in basketball!! Why isn't Mr. McGehee absent more. (English would be a better subject if he were!) Ramona wants to know why we don’t have half-days more often and why we don't get out at dinner instead of 2 o'clock when we do have half-days? Tillie wonders why we don't have more holidays. (Two days a week--maybe she would come the other three.) Why does Miss Lowrance grumble at the Home Economics girls all the time? Why doesn't Christmas come more than once a year? Clifford wants to know why he can't sleep in English? Oswald wants to know why Scrub and he can't talk more in General Math. (Mrs. Hance calls them down to often!) Mona wants to know why she can't be in all the activities? (Too many on one day.) Peggy wants to know why we get a zero when we don't get our homework. Annette wonders why the Seniors can't have classes with the Sophomores. (Is it because of Charlie?) Scrub doesn't like his typewriter because it doesn’t go fast enough for him. Alma wishes everyone else would be quiet and let her talk awhile!!

CLASS PROPHECY Now, that it is 1961, I. Annette McDaniel Smith, sitting in my living room with my three children running around me, decided to turn on my television set and see what my old classmates of '51 are doing. I see that two members of our class are more or less partners. Cliff Sanborn, who is an undertaker, covers up the mistakes that Dr. Hugh Taylor makes. Who is the gentleman behind the desk in his office, and also that pretty girl sitting on his 1-nee. Oh, of course, it's Opal Messer and Charles Campbelle. Who is this going down the road in a new Buick convertible? It is none other than Oswald Winchester and his wife. I wonder what my two dear friends, Julia Papadoupolos and Mona Creamer are doing. Oh, here is Julia singing with Forest Hayes and his orchestra. They are playing at Ciro's now. Mona is just leaving Reno, after receiving her third divorce, to marry the owner of the Stork Club. The ideal housewives, Ramona Putnal and Frances Putnal, are now going into the great Walgreen Drugstore owned by Edward Mathes to buy their kids some icecream. I see Charles Millender and his basketball team leaving Madison Square Garden with another victory added to their list. Joe Hall is now flying jets for the U. S. Army. He seems to like his work well. Vernon Thompson, who made All-American last year with Notre Dame U. is now playing professional football with the New York Giants. Peggy Jackson is just returning from a round the world trip with her famous husband Admiral Carl Page of the U. S. Navy. Alma Tucker is busy with her career as an Airline Hostess. I also see she has a penthouse for days off in New York City. And look at Basil McKnight fast becoming rich making plates of teeth. We always wondered why Basil went to the dentist so much while in school. My, my but Tillie Thompson (reaching the old maid stage) looks nice walking down the corridor of the famous Carrabelle Hospital in her spotless uniform. Well, I must go now,my children are getting sleepy.
