In 1949jthe class of 1954 came to Caroline High School afraid of what the future held for us. We were timid and awkward, and we had a great deal to learn about high school life. We were 8th graders, and we lived with our own small groups. By 1950 we made many, many friends and became more accustomed to the routine of a day’s schedule. We were in high school, and we were proud to be a part of Caroline. Our freshmen athletes made us feel especially proud when they represented us on the varsity teams. At the close of 1951 we entered the sophomore class. By this time we had become acquaint- ed with practically every person at Caroline High except for the 8th graders. We didn’t take this year too seriously, for we thought that there was plenty of time left to settle down to real study. When 1952 rolled around we really were getting to be popular in sports and academics. We especially enjoyed giving the annual senior prom to our wonderful friends, the class of 1953. In doing this we found the spirit of working together a great asset. And finally September 1953 started us on the road to becoming seniors. We didn’t feel like seniors at first but as the days passed and our rings, cards, and senior play books arrived we felt decidedly more grown up than on that first day when we walked through the doors of C.H.S . Our senior debating team, our trip to Washington, and our senior play, “Father of the Bride’’, will be held deep in our hearts long after 1954. CLASS WILL We, the class of 1954, being of sound mind and body on this the 7th day of June of the year one thousand nine hundred and fifty— four do will and bequeath the following to our friends; To Miss Conway - a senior class which will win the magazine drive and also fix Christmas boxes as beautifully as our class did. To Mr s. Edwards - a solid geometry class which will always be well supplied with rulers, pencils, and paper. To Mrs. Perkins’ class - first place in the lunch line. To Mr. W rinn - a net to cover the sousaphone to keep students from using it for a waste basket. Wally leaves a year’s supply of sock yarn to Peggy to keep her busy while he is at V.P.I. Marvin leaves his girls to Puddin’. Carole leaves a fur-lined keyboard to next year’s glee club accompanist. Kenneth leaves his height to Gregg Broaddus for next year’s basketball squad. Joe leaves his weight to Dickie Hylton to be used during next year’s football season. James leaves “My Little Margie” to next year’s senior class. Joan leaves the doorway which she and Robert have occupied during recess this year to Mary Eleanor and Lawrence Earl. G.H., Wally, Joe, Stuart, and Marvin leave their musical ability to Kent Gamble. Nateline Shirley leave an alarm clock for the Home Ec. stove. Betty leaves a bottle of aspirin to next year’s senior president. Charles Harold leave judging ability to Miss Caroline contest. Pinky leaves her blush to Ruth Gordon Elliott. G.H. leaves his argumentative ability to future geometry classes. Nancy leaves an adding machine to next year’s senior treasurer, Demple Marian leave a key to the back door of the Home Ec. department to future Home Ec. girls. Susie leaves a detective to next year’s homeroom rep. to keep an eye on the paper boy. Shirley Ball leaves an album of jazz records to Mr. Shelton to play at party nights. Shirhtf Q. tieJTcJihte.
