V -K K,'l1 Jifnff ., -ft ,c , .W Before the good record was es- tablished, a new coach filled the vacant spot for the tennis team. Coach Ray Riey was his name, and making Carolina tennis re- spectable was his game. As shown by the good record, he succeeded in making the team a valid one. Because of this, Coach Riley was not only hon- ored by his players but by other coaches too. Q Y ' ' . f V . Through his consis- tent play and tremendous serve, Greg deservedly played in the number one seed and was se- lected as an all conference per- former. He will be greatly missed in the l982 season, but four of the top six players will return. With the help of these four players the prospects of the I982 year look promising. C '18 I I' S6 Tennisf89

Even though the team had a shakey start, the netters bounced back to gain a 4-2 record in the con- ference which was good enough to place them third in the con- ference. This achievement hasn't been reached by the ten- nis team at Carolina in a long time.
