The Trojans showed great promise at times during the sea- son with a I2 to I win over Pal- metto, who eventually won the conference championship, and a 6 to 4 win over Parker, who fin- ished second, however, the Tro- jans could not play consistently enough to win many close games, as they lost five games by I run and on their way to a 7- 7-I record. Expectations are again high for the I982 season as the Trojans lost only 2 starters from the I98I team. Many of the returning players were a part of the last playoff team and still remember the feeling of accomplishment that brings. The hard work and dedication will be there from all involved when practice begins for the I982 baseball season, and with this hard work and dedica- tion it will not be surprising to see the Carolina Trojans battling it out for the conference cham- pionship again. -Coach Erwin

The Carolina Trojans baseball team opened the l98l season with high expectations of mak- ing a third straight appearance in the district playoffs despite having lost six of the nine start- ers from the previous year. The defending conference ll-AAA champions opened the season with two straight wins and hopes grew even stronger for another outstanding year. The Trojans defeated Eastside and Woodmont to open the season before losing a thriller to Parker 4 to 3. After losses to Berea and Greenville and a tie with Palmet- to, Carolina won two more gamesa however, the tempo was set for the season.
