The fine arts center draws stu- dents from fifteen area high schools for the purpose of de- veloping talent and skills in spe- cific areas. these areas are art, dance, voice, piano, strings, cre- ative writing and filmfvideo. the school offers two classes a day in each area, with each class consisting of M hours teaching time. This year Caroli- na had seventeen students com- muting to the fine arts center daily. the school is the only one of its kind in the south. For this rea- son the school is planning ex- pansion so that it can make its facilities available to more stu- dents. I. At times, even vocal students like Julie Turner must listen rather than sing. 2. The filmfvideo program acquaints Sonya Branthem with a variety of equipment most TV watchers never see. 3. The extreme discipline involved in formal dancing is demonstrated by Tracey Powell 4. Fine arts center students board the bus to return home to Carolina. 5.
