Choosing one person as Coach's Choice for the l982 Varsity Bas- ketball Team was virtually im- possible for Coach Tony Poole. Seniors Donnie Mann, Terrun Smith, and John Bailey were his top three. Veronica Wharton was Coach Betty Moore's choice player on the I982 Girls' Basketball team. Veronica led the conference in scoring and proved to be a great asset to the team. The Baptist College of Charles- ton offered scholarships to ju- niors who scored high on the PSAT. Patti Nelson was awarded the title of Miss CHS by the faculty of Carolina. She was selected on the basis of scholarship, leader- ship, responsibility and quality of character. Patti was active in such clubs as the National Honor Society, the cheerleading squad, the prom committee, and the Civinettes. Patty also added a spirited at- mosphere to the school during the Christmas season by being selected as Miss Merry Christ- mas. The Furman University Scholars were determined by the PSAT scores. and may be eligible for scholarships to Furman. The Fur- man Scholars this year were Ed- ward Frazier and Teresa Powell.
