X ,f Qur yjrzh cgoaf Mr. T. B. Atkinson, who has now served two complete years as principal of Carolina High School, is a man dedicated to his profession. Under his capable leadership Carolina has conducted a sound and well-rounded academic program. For his un- dying interest in the progress of our school, and for his sound guidance to each member of the stu- dent body and the faculty, we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude, gf A-'5-I? .. - Our jqsszbfanf jjrzkycupaf Mr, Bill Jordan, our assistant principal, is a man of outstanding leadership and charac- ter. ln a very understanding way he offers his assistance to students of-all ages, These qualities and his interest in all phases of our school activities make him well liked and respected by all who have come to know him. Our cgecrefczry By so capably and cheerfully performing her duties as our office secretary, Mrs. Betty Ramey has proved to be a very valuable asset to our school. Not only does she help us with many of our personal problems, she also acts as our telephone answering service and per- sonal nurse. Because she gives so freely of her time, which oftentimes goes unappreci- ated, we wish to express our bountiful ap- preciation now and hope that she will forgive us for the many times we have been less thoughtful. The Trojans were dropped by the Greenville High Red Raiders 20-12 after the Trojans gave the Raiders a tough game. The Trojans stunned by the loss to Greenville, played host to Wade Hampton the following week. The Trojans were overpowered by the Wade Hampton Generals and lost to them l3-0. The following Friday night the Trojans traveled to Easley where they were shut-out 25-0. Carolina still having trouble, then traveled to Chapman where they lost l3-0. The Trojans, determined to end their losing streak, beat Fairforest 7-6, to win their second homecoming game since the school has been built. Hoping to make it two in-a-row, the Trojans then traveled to Blue Ridge where they lost l4-l3. Spirits weren't dampened long, as the Trojans defeated Hillcrest l9-0. After an impressive win off of the Rams, the Trojans visited Byrnes. The Byrnes High Rebels were just too big and strong for the Trojans. Byrnes won 33-0. The following Friday night the Trojans visited the Parker High Golden Tornadoes in the annual Lions Bowl Game. The Trojan team had a crowd of about 5,000 fans stunned at their impressive playing. The Trojans dominated just about the whole game. The score finally ended in a 6-6 tie. This was the first time any Trojan team tied Parker. The next Friday, Pickens visited the Trojans. The game was a real grueling battle. However, Pickens won l3-7. The Trojans wound up the l96l football season with a 3 wins, 7 loses, and l tie record. Leading the Trojans for the second season, was head coach, Ted Yakimowicz, and new assistant coach, Don Kemp. Even though the Trojans wound up with a mediocre season, the students of CHS will remem- ber the Parker game for a long time to come. yfe 7' 2 Q E 2 L I I l l E Q First Row: J. C.
