The Carolina chapter played host to the County-wide Father and Son Banquet held February 22. The boys participated in the annual State Fair in October, and proiects of the club included beautitying the campus, in- stalling and removing bleachers on the ath- letic field, and beautifying homes. ln addition, the boys participated in several local, state, and national contests. Junior Homemakers of America The JHA, sponsored by Mrs Lettie Leininger, made its influence felt by participating in many school activities. Among them were making Christmas decorations, entertaining for the .IHA County meeting in February, spon- soring the drop-in tor Alumni Night, and deco- rating tor the FFA Banquet. One proiect at Thanksgiving and Christmas was helping needy families with food and clothing. The highlight ot the year was the fashion show presented in March as a going-away present for Mrs. Leininger. Joanne VVauchope was nominated by the Carolina chapter for state secretary. Barbara McKinney and Norma Shook entered compe- tition in the District Dress Review and Home Experience Contests. Both received awards of excellence. Distributive Education The D.E. CLUB is a nation-wide student organization made up of affiliated D.E. clubs, the purpose of which is to develop progressive leadership in the vocational and retailing fields. The club attended the District D.E. meeting in November and the state convention March 4 and 5 in Columbia, where Ray Smith was awarded third place trophy for his Merchandise information Manual. The Carolina club was host to the Parker and Greenville clubs at the annual Employer-Employee Banquet in February.
