During four years of high school, you move rapidly toward what you expect to become. You spend much of your time in preparation for what you expect to bring rewards. You know that you must pass courses in English, history, science, mathematics, vocational skills, and the arts in order to graduate. The final reward for your efforts is the diploma. Life, however, is the total school of which high school is a small part. Yet, life does not offer a written reward that can be framed and placed on a wall. Life in all its dimensions offers and demands much more. To share its fullness you must achieve peace with mankind, appreciate the natural wonders of the universe, respond to the needs of others, and enjoy the accomplishments of mankind. The good life requires you to expand the dimensions of your body, your mind, and your spirit so that they blend and balance. •To develop the harmony of body, mind and spirit, I suggest the following: Love those who appear unlovable; Strive for inner peace, then it should follow that you can be at peace with others; Appreciate art and music for they will enlarge the soul; Learn to judge when to speak and when to keep quiet; Read widely but weigh carefully what you read; Develop and follow plans that will keep the body; Accept failure as a temporary result of having tried; Be appreciative of kindnesses shown to you; Recognize and respect the rights, privileges and properties of others; Hear the cries for love and understanding, and respond to them. If you do all these things, you will hear and feel the rhythms of the universe, and furthermore, you will know that you are a part of it.
