The Principal’s Message Such tributes as your dedication of this yearbook to me evoke my gratitude, my humility, and my rededication to the task of preparing young people for the future. The past upon which the future is predicted may be reviewed through these pages. How valuable this past is, is dependent upon liow you profit from your mistakes, build on your potentialities, and take advantage of your successes. In this era of drastic social, cultural, and technological changes, the demand is for clear thinking, sincere application, and definite results. The profound knowledge and useful skills gained here at Hayes High School should provide impetus that will propel you into meaningful, satisfying, and productive lives. 1 congratulate you, the yearbook staff, for your efficient endeavors in this publication. I have visited Hayes High School on a number of occasions. 1 have always come away feeling good. I feel good because I see taxpayers’ money being invested wisely in our young people, and I see young people taking advantage of the opportunities offered them. The environment at Hayes is conducive to learning. In the rooms and the library there is a quiet, business-like atmosphere as boys and girls busily pursue truth and knowledge with the assistanceof a competent staff. There seems to be an abundance of teaching materials and equipment. However, the thing that impresses me most at Hayes is the respect the students have for each other, their teachers, their principal, and their school. I know this respect did not just happen; it was developed by fine parents and an excellent staff of teachers under the leadership of an alert and dedicated principal. 1 expect big things from Hayes.
