carnegie-mellon university 2 wi t a mm m 15213 4 7 I sit within the maze I call life, enduring passing pressures and cold styles, thinking of the now-shaped ideas of others and drawing conclusions in the dirt. 8 10 I wish to see the reason why, to discover the relationship of all to me, and there comes within my gaze . . . 13 a gradual construction accompanies the developing pattern of my life. 18 a ray of light offers me a chair. 19 20 21 perhaps to see myself in a new light. 23 I toss away my cigarette, and here beginning finds tha end before beginning ever can exist, and the great runner never leaves the starting and the finishing line, the budding and the fading tree the line is long, I go nowhere, yet I have journeyed here, goody-bye, my youth, I am going away. I know not who I am. but here I am perhaps an hour, perhaps a time. 26 asst UNDERGR4DU4TE 5TUDENT5 NOT PREPAID STOP HERE 27 SP'C t direction proves the turning 30 of my love, and the challenge lies in the realm of my work. 31 33 34 2 ® it is day, and I shall learn of things my father never knew. it is time, and I shall shape the things my heart has felt. 37 as a work break, yet I enjoy the fall, and life is a kaleidoscope of spreading leaves, expressive faces, and I feel the release of mind-restricted energy and rhythmic vibrations shape my form. 45 my mind is turned from mental stimulation to an instant of physical involvement. 49 a participation relaxed by absurd decisions, mock challenges, and warm smiles. 52 and victory for me is measured by the hours of fun, not by the score at the end of each contest. 53 sometimes I must wait for my chance, but when I am needed. 54 to reach our goal. yet my involvement is not limited to the measured field. I respond with enthusiasm in the stands and on the sidelines. 60 64 on a planet too often cold and impersonal, I find myself driven away from its problems, and in the university, in my “ivory tower, I accomplish relationships no newspaper would report. This year, however, M.D.C. concentrated on housing improvements. With the cooperation of Student Senate, it obtained a commitment for a new dormitory complex, and within the year submitted basic proposals for such a complex. The Council's greatest effort was devoted to establishing coeducational housing for 1969-1970. Hopefully coeducational living at CMU will not only prove itself feasible, but will also provide constructive data for future housing. Men's Dormitory Council worked with the Administration, planning housing improvements of major significance. The Council specified carpeting for each dormitory and designed new lounges for Hamerschlag House and Scobell and Welch Halls. This year a new Hamerschlag T.V. room and a dormitory teletype room were also established.
