Presents The Senior Class Carnegie High School Carnegie, Pennsylvania Contents bs To the Senior Class of 1969: It is with sincere feelings of happiness, tinged with regret that these brief lines are written. Happiness, in the knowledge that you—the Class of 1969—have reached the goal of high school graduation, having over- come the academic and personal hurdles one encounters in the process. Re- gret in the sense that no longer will we at Carnegie High School have the pleasure of working with you. The world in which you emerge from high school is undergoing rapid unprecedented changes. It is hoped that the knowledge you have gained in your high school career will serve you well in meeting the challenges of this «changing world. We at Camegie High School will be thinking of you often. Your successes will be our successes, your disappointments our disappointments. If, in the future we can be of service to you in your work or educational endeavors, we will consider it an expression of the esteem in which you hold our past efforts in your behalf. Best wishes to each of you. May yours be a life rich in the material and spiritual benefits our great country has to offer. Albert H. These last three years, how fast they’ve gone. It seems but yesterday When we embarked as sophomores green And sailed upon our way. And now the end of school days near. The longed-for shore's in view; One hundred seventy-four sea-men Will leave—a friendly crew. At last with hope we come to dock From three years on the blue; The life on which we must embark To all of us is new. Think often of our high school friends And ail our young romance And all the good times we have had At play, prom, and dance. Perhaps our paths may never cross, Tis time to say good-bye; But we’ll hold dear the times we’ve had At old Carnegie High. Senior Class Officers Officers of the Class of 1969 are Charles Gar- rison, Michael Komrada, Carolyn Knepper, and Diane Homa. Charles Garrison, the president, is our competent class leader. Besides being an excellent athlete, he lends a fine bass voice to the choir. Chuck gives a ready and willing hand whenever he is needed and can be counted on to do a good job. Michael Komrada is the senior class vice-president. Mike, always full of many good ideas, leads our Kiltie Band. His willingness to help others and reliability earned him the office. Carolyn Knepper is the hard-working and ef- ficient class secretary. A colorful member of the Color Guard, she plays an active part in many school activities. Carolyn has made her office a success through her congeniality and willingness to assume responsibility. Diane Homa is treasurer of the senior class. Dee, an active member of the Pep Club, is always eager to do the job. She is enthusiastic and highly deserves to be a senior class officer. BONJOUR. FRENCHIE! We are proud to have Catherine Main- gourd as our foreign exchange student from Bernay, France. Frenchie,” as she is nicknamed, resides at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gabig, on Reamer Avenue. Having visited Washington, D.C. with the family, Frenchie actively par- ticipates in various CHS functions. Sports-minded, she is a member of the Gymnastics Club and the Pep Club, plays tennis, and played volleyball in the in- tramural program. She is also a member of Student Council and the Book and Movie Review Club. When she returns to France, Frenchie will complete her senior year of high school. She then intends to continue her education by attending college to be- come an interpreter. Best of luck from CHS. 17 Senior Class Presents . . . In addition to being an able president, Paul is also one of our finer CHS athletes, playing football and wrestling. Bill, besides lending his musical talents to both the band and the choir, has shown him- self to be a responsible vice-president. Robbe is well- known through the school for her viva- cious cheerleading at pep rallies and sports events. She also sings in the Mixed Ensem- ble of our choir. And last but by no means least is Karen. In addition to being a hard worker in the junior class, she is also a fine singer in the choir and the Girls’ Ensemble. 54 55 Juniors HOMEROOM 208 Gail Abbott Rosemary Briggs Kathy Adams Becky Brown Richard Aheam Ed Brown Steve Astriab Sam Brown Gary Atutes John Budavich Paula Babish Christine Byers Joe Bagnato Patti Carr John Balog John Casey Lilene Beard Marc Cerasini Ruth Bevard Mike Charles John Black Teresa Chruszc Bill Boretsky George Clay Joe Borgesi Vicki Costa Kirk Brandebura Shirley Cunningham Dave Bregon David Dalby 56 51 HOMEROOM 209 Robert Danziger Robert Da tig Charles Dato Bond Davis William Davis Barbara Dickenson Garnet Dlugos Sharon Dlugos Debbie Doerflinger Timothy Donnelly Pauline Douglas Elaine Ernzer Patricia Erson David Faingnaert Carol Fiori Kathy Flick Robert Fox William Fox Karen Funari Cherylc Galloway Randee Garber James Gamer Martha Garner Kathy Golden Raymond Goodman Richard Grega Charles Halliwall Vladimir Hanczar Alan Harding £ HOMEROOM 210 Mary Hayes Anna Helton Kathy Hof Gary Hoyson William Huehn Natalie lorio Kathy Kay Darlene Kearns Jo Kessler Al Kinzler Patricia Kohl Paul Kovach Mary Ann Krauss Lorraine Kress Kathy Langer Marianne Lisowski Kevin Love Donna Lowar Frank Maimone Donna Majeskie Jane Makar Denny Malachow Esther Maust Nancy McGrogan Carolyn Merritt Geraldine Merritt s Nadine Mischuk 58 HOMEROOM 212 Judi Mulholland Robert Mulholland Mary Musico Kathy Musiol William Musiol Joanie Nagy Sophie Neczypir Donna Openbrier Darlana Paiker Gretchen Payne Rita Penatzer Ray Pencosky Jim Peters Kathy Phillips Linda Picard Rose Pituch Leonard Politi Sandra Ptaszek Mike Quinn Scott Reed Cathy Rettinger Donna Ricciadello Gail Richwine Frank Romano Tony Romeo Terry Roth Robynne Rowlands Belitta Santavicca Frank Scalise Nancy Scott Michaelene Schimkus 59 HOMEROOM 211 Tommy Simms Pete Skeba Tom Sliwinski Sara Smith Helen Solomchak Art Sparbanie Marlene Stasik Paul Switch Jimmy Talotta Dale Timco Colleen Tokarczyk Thomas Tokarczyk Rich Tyrone Charmain Veard Francis Vitale Roseanne Vittore Glady Waleski Jim Wallis Carol Walton Louise Weiss Patty Whitaker Alice Wilcox Beverly Woodall Roy Wyke Dave Yaccino Carolyn Yake Bill Young Edward Zbezinski Mike Zurowski 60 Sophomores HOMEROOM BIO Kathy Adamski Sue Adler Robert Alexander Anthony Altieri Jim Aston Frank Bagnato John Baird Charles Balog Pauline Barwell Geraldine Bonfili Virginia Boseia Tom Brozenick Leona Bryan Linda Budavich Janet Bunio Dannv Butera Bill Cable Carmen Caliguiri Mamie Caliguiri Roberta Camp Ed Campbell Henry Chapman Robert Chapman Mary Ellen Chesney Donna Coleman Damian Columbus Pat Crato Phyllis Dato Bob Davis Louise Davis Richard Dillon 61 HOMEROOM Bil Dennis Doak Val Doerflinger Tom Dolfi Mike Dorman Mitchell Duvall Walter Emmet Diane Enrietti Robert Evans Denise Falcioni Vincent Falleroni Rosemarie Fera Robert Fitzgerald Mark Flory Jacquelyn Foley Bill Fozard Pam France Vera Freshwater Doris Fuhrer Maria Funaro Bob Gabig Louie Gangone Christine Gerrero Joe Gordon Joe Granata Sandra Grove Cynthia Haluszczak Richard Hancock Charlene Hatcher Geary Hatcher Beverly Hayes Christie Hood 62 HOMEROOM B12 Becky Hoyson Maxine Hunter Mark lacono Karen Janocha Steve Janocha Robert Johnson Louie Jones Diane Kantor Joseph Kantor Patrick Kelley Michael Kielman Susan Kochin Bill Kohut Susan Kohut Gary Koishal Olga Konecky Jaime Koos r James Kooser Myron Koziak Ed Krasousky Teresa Lachowicz Kathleen Laffcrty Toni Lewellyn Kathy Livermore Pamela Liwosz Cynthia Loos Jim Mac Neil Susan Madera Ricky Maksa Erana Mancini Karen Marchetti 63 HOMEROOM 204 Kathy Mathias Timothy McIntyre Harry McKelvey Edward Miller Patty Miller Saundra Moehring Maureen Moss Don Muraco Paul Musiol Dwain Nardini Bruce Noel Sandra Oliver Ann Olszewski Richard Pertas Robert Perhosky Diana Persiani Greg Popivchak Kathy Popivchak Shirley Pronko Cindy Prosser Kenny Pruss Brad Pucci Roberta Queen Carol Quinn Lorraine Rtmschel Arthur Richardson James Roach Edwin Robbins Wiley Roberts Terry Robertson Ron Rodi Ray Romani Louis Santodonato 64 HOMEROOM 206 Charles Schwartzmiller Susan Scott James Shaffer Shirley Smida Donna Smith Edward Smith Caridad Soler Barbara Spemak Barbara Stefanik Janet Steinhart Debby Steranka Marilyn Steranka Zachary Sudiak Peggy Switch Maria Talmonti Dominick Talotta Robert Tischler Mary Anne Tokar Frank Torchia Kathy Turko Linda Turko Larry Turopolec Theresa Uzar Helen Veard Frank Verzelli Sandra Vickers Virginia Wahlgren Toni Ward Barbara Williamson Christine Woodall James Zajicek Janet Zbalischen 65 Voyager Staff Sheila Moskovitz. Perhaps for this reason we, the Class of 1969, honour Miss Josephine Brogno in our 1969 VOYAGER. Not is this only for all the hard work she has done for each person in our class, but for showing us a clear, open path into our future. This time for honouring not only brings a time for goodbyes; for remembering; for tears; and for thanks; but also for wishing Miss Brogno God's speed as the future be- comes the past and the present. Thank you . . . Miss Brogno 120 1 AND A TIME FOR DEDICATION Carnegie High School has been in ex- istance for the accomplishment of many ideals; through these ideals we, the students of the class of 1969, have attempted to learn that which has been available to us. And in learning—comprehending—under- standing—realizing—we look for some mi- nute detail in each teacher which we can remember. Each and every teacher dedicated to Carnegie High School is worthy of being remembered by the students of the outgoing class. However, we, the class of 1969, have been in the search of a dedicated person in being a dedicated teacher. For this reason we, the Class of 1969, dedicate our 1969 Voyager to Mr. Charles Stockum. But more for the sanctity of be- ing himself. A gentleman, teacher, and friend —who has given each and every one of us a comprehension of how we should be proud, work hard—and carry ourselves as our ca- reers progress. God Bless You . . . Charlie 121 123 Our 1969 Homecoming Queen MISS DOREEN JACOBS Homecoming 1968-69 Not only the choosing of the queen characterized homecoming, but also the planning and decorating of the field and the cars. Tension mounted as the hours passed on October 11. At last the tension was broken at the announcement of our court: QUEEN: Doreen Jacobs escorted by Dale Thomson FIRST ATTENDANT: Carolyn Knepper escorted by Tom Fontanesi SECOND ATTENDANT: Sue DeRuyter escorted by Mario Belcastro THIRD ATTENDANT: Bev Quinn escorted by Jim Muraco FOURTH ATTENDANT: Denise Diminno escorted by Bob Mulholland 125 Senior Night Senior night ... a sad and happy time, for tears of sorrow as well as those of joy fell. Senior cheerleaders, majorettes, color guard, and band members were recognized at the football game. The orange mums, worn by the senior girls, symbolized this evening of October 25. 126 Little things that stick in your mind ... we aren’t so im- portant. But still we’re a part of your years—like the cake that came out right for a change, or the acid bottle that dripped a little bit, or that ugly turtle in Mr. V’s room. But you know, memory' is a funny thing; sometimes you re- member the little things that weren’t so important. 128 Kevin Love MVP at Clearfield Tournament MISS TEENAGE AMERICA MELISSA BABISH Margie Cook Air Polution Representative CHS Varsity Mother’s Club Bob Nixon MVP Football Player Joan Miller DAR Award Terry Roth and Tom Sliwinski West Virginia University Speech Clinic Mike Knmrada District Band Regional Band Mid-East Conference 133 PARKWAY WEST TEC HNICAL SCHOOI Ruby Barhish Frank Belcastro Cathy Chwilka Leonard Dabney Tony DeMarco Chuck DeVorak Mike Dirkan Bill Gordon Gail Majeski Bob Meyer Linda Mlescko Carol Perhosky Beth Richwine Dom Santavicca Sandy Santavicca Gre Smith Debbie Steinhart Kathy Tohey Norma Whitaker Norman Witwicki CAFETERIA STAFF Mrs. Frederick Mrs. Ko iak Mrs. Nidbella Mrs. I’nj:er STUDENT TEACHERS Miss McCann Mr Skind ier 134 ALMA MATER 9 Hail to Carnegie, Our praises we sing to thee. c 'V '• Hail Alma Mater, We love thee eternally. Despite a late rally by the seniors, the juniors held fast for the win. Once again many unusual things happened. Ask a junior. Just where did Miss Ree and Mr. Vipple go? Who was the man in the street? What happened at the hotel? And—How about Dot? All in all the trip proved to be educational and at the same time a lot of fun. And we're very serious when we say this. A Rome Visit On March 29th, 12 members of the junior and sophomore classes traveled to Rome and surrounding cities to view ancient ruins. Ac- companying them was their chaperone Mrs. Estelle Musico and other area schools. During their stay of 10 days, the trip was highlighted by a Papal audience at St. Peter's Square, a tour of the Colosseum and the Forum and bargain- ing with street urchins. “Fantasy of the Sea” 1969 Prom Queen . . .
