KENNETH LOGAN LIPERI TE DE TCF SCHGOLS When you realize that Carnegie High School was estab- lished sixty-six years ago at a time when there were only two other high schools in all of Allegheny County, you begin to share our pride in its long history of graduating outstanding young men and women. We believe that many of our present students will further enhance the ranks of our alumni. How- ever, these students must understand that, in this rapidly changing world, one can never acquire enough training or education to meet the challenge of tomorrow. 8 MR. WADE WHITLATCH PRINCIPAL The well-rounded development of the student is the primary aim at Carnegie High School. Through our academic and ex- tra-curricular programs, we seek to build good study habits and character in our students. If this goal is achieved, we feel certain that our graduates may meet any challenge that they may face in the future. 9 7 A' y CARL ANDRESKY JOHN J. SENIDR CLASS OFFICERS At the beginning of the school term, the Glass of 1962 elected the following stu- dents from among its members to class ofiices: Samuel Cole, presidentg Antonio Estefan, vice-presidentg Gloria Buny, secretary 5 and Kathleen Haracy, treasurer. Samuel Cole is one of the outstanding boys in the Class of l962. His achievements range from the athletic to the academic. 'Chipw lends a ready and willing hand wherever he is needed, and he can always be counted on to do a good job. Fellow members of his class showed their faith in his ability to handle responsibility by electing HChip president of the class. Antonio Estefan, or Tony as everyone calls him, came to Carnegie High School from Rio de Janerio, Brazil. Tony's easy smile and sense of humor immediately won him many friends. Tony has become an important part of many high school func- tions, and C.H.S. students are always happy to have Tony with them. Gloria Buny, secretary of the senior class, is also one of the pretty and peppy C.H.S. cheerleaders. Jeannie is a hard and efficient worker and takes an active role in everything she is associated with. She is enthusiastic and congenial and highly de- serves the honor of senior class ofhcer. Kathleen Haracy has become an outstanding senior through her achievements in both academic and social activities. Kathy assumes a great amount of the responsi- bility which goes with the many positions which she holds, including editor of the VGYAGER. As a result of this her classmates have elected her treasurer of the Class of l962. 18 JAMES WILLIAM ALDERSON, III General Jim Rlfle Club 10 12 Industrlal Arts Award, 10. See Staft The 'LSeew in its 28th year at Carnegie High School was for the first time pub- lished by a journalism class and printed professionally. Serving as the student 'gvoicew of the school, the paper reported student, faculty, and administration news and commented on school, local, and national affairs. The 12 members of the journalism class met before school hours to study news- paper writing, copy editing, layout, and make-up design. In November the HSeeH earned membership in Quill and Scroll, the International Honor Society for scholastic journalism. Officers of the association approved the paper and granted a charter to Carnegie. Some individual members of the ':See staff were accepted for membership after meeting requirements which included journalistic interests, general scholastic average, and the amount of material published. Recognizing the responsibilities that belong to the journalist, members of the staff sought to present a picture of Carnegie High School and to guide student interest and opinion on matters of importance to the school and community. 53 4,3 2 Q, A ff mx f 'E+ M, ,w-4 6 141 ff-,QQ ,gg X' Q . , A 3, v Z 1 3, gl- s A i gh' WE 6 E 4 I rl , Mau , Q e Q55 ' 'QM ig rv! f 1 F . 45 3 K iwlu, . fini 1 11. ,ug ff: A' J- ,LI Yi 6,4 n uhh A L .cspww-ig, Q ? President Joseph Madva is an honor student active in many school organizations. In addition, he is an outstanding football and basketball player. Joe exhibits qualities of leadership in all he does and the class made an excellent choice for president. Joe's right-hand man is Danny Zebraskey. Danny, a hard worker in Student Coun- cil, the Novus Hi-Y, and the F rench-Spanish Club, combines work with fun whenever possible. His wonderful sense of humor has made him a favorite among his class- mates. One of the little Tartan Cheerleaders is represented among the Class officers. She is Sally Marsilio, treasurer. Sally is admired and liked for her neatness and easy smile. She is an active member of the Mixed Ensemble and Student Council. Sally's eagerness to do a good job on work assigned makes her a natural for the important office of class Treasurer. Carol Yadlosky is secretary of the class. Carol is a member of the Girls' Ensemble and Assistant Art Editor on the VOYAGER. One of Carol's distinguishing qualities is her willingness to assume responsibility. This has contributed to her success as class secretary. Left to Right: Nladva, C. Yadloskcy, S. Marsilirm. D. Zelwraskey, 86 FIRST ROW: M. Emmett, S. Phillips, S. Robertson, tavicca, Ford.
