Athletic Association The success of Carnegie High's athletic program depends largely upon the combined efforts of the mem- bers of the Athletic Association . The Athletic Associa- tion is one ofthe vital parts of our school system since it controls all forms of athletics in which our students participate . The responsibilities of this association are many and require a great deal of time and effort. The most important of these are: scheduling of games, purchasing new equipment, providing transportation for the players, hiring and paying the officials, and, of course, coach- ing and training the teams. The line of responsibility goes from the coaches, who have the closest contact with the players, to the faculty manager, Mr. Speziale, to the principal, Mr. Logan, to the superintendent, Dr. Hickes, and finally to the Board of Education. Mr. Zaney is the head football coach and also the physical education director of the boys. Mrs. Ball is the physical education director and coordinator of the girls' sports. She is also in charge of all in- tramural activities for girls only, and those activities for mixed doubles, such as badminton and table tennis . Mr. Marcenelle, Mr. Stoclcum, and Mr. D'Alessandro are assistant football coaches. Mr. Sobie is head coach of basketball and junior high football. Mr. Marcenelle is his assistant coach for basketball. Mr. Stockum is head coach of the baseball, Mr. Bandyk, tennis, Mr. Zaney, golf, Mr. Andresky, rifle, and Mr. Swenn, wrestling. Mr. Group is assistant wrestling coach. FIRST ROW: Dr. Hickes, Mr. Logan, Mrs. Ball, Mr. Speziale. SECOND ROW: Mr. Sobie, Mr. Andresky, Mr. Zaney, Mr. Bandyk, Mr. Stockum

B0aI Cl of Ed LlCafi0l1 The 'Board of Education is composed of a group of men who have at heart the interests of all students of the high school and the grade schools, as well as those of the taxpayers . lt is their duty to see that any school problem brought before them receives the best possible solution and that this solution is carried out. Any difficulty receives individual attention and care- ful consideration in an attempt to correct it. The Carnegie SchoolfBoard is composed of seven members who are elected by the people of the town for a term of five years. They meet in the conference room of the high school the second Monday of each month. These meetings are always open to the public in order that problems of a student or taxpayer may im- mediately confront the board without unnecessary delays. The school board is also responsible for ex- tending every opportunity to each member of the com- munity, and to offer to adults, as well as students, the use of modern facilities within the school buildings . This is done by having adult classes in the evenings. Many people, because of this opportunity, become happier and, 'therefore, better citizens of our community . The Carnegie Board of Education, with the other duties already listed, has another iob to perform. lt has the responsibility of seeing that all school business and activities function properly, it supervises the maintenance ofschool buildings, financial problems, taxation, and all other school problems. We of the VOYAGER staff are proud of and grate- ful to these men who so unselfishly work to improve the Carnegie school system. LEFT TO RIGHT: Mr. Schnepp, Mr. Jones, Dr. Hickes, Mr. Kahn, Mr. Firth, Mr. Garner, Mr. Walker, Mr. Lesko, Mr. Coll,
