Athletic Association The Athletic Association is one of the vital parts of our school system, as it is the foun- dation of Carnegie High's athletic program. In the group are the various coaches, schoo-l administrators, and physical education in- structors. It schedules all inter-scholastic sports activities and promotes student com- petition through the school's sports program. The other responsibilities of this organization include purchasing of new equipmentg hiring and paying officialsg and, of course, coaching and training the players. These things re- quire a great deal of time and effort on their part. Dr. Hickes and Mr. Logan are advisors and Mr. Speziale is the faculty manager. Together, they handle all of the financial records. Mr. Zaney is the head coach of the football team and coach of the golf team. He is also the boys' physical education director. Mr. Stockum is the head coach of both the base- ball and basketball teams. Mr. Marcenelle is an assistant football coach and has also taken over the position of coach of the B-Squad basketball team. Mr. D'Alessandro is an as- sistant football coach. Mr. Cross is in charge of the Junior High football team. Mr. Swenn coaches the wrestling team. Mr. Bandyk is the coach of the new tennis team. Mr. Hartley coaches the rifle team. Mrs. Ball is the new girls' physical education instructor. She has brought many new additions to the girls' phy- sical education program that we all enjoy very much. She has also promoted a fine in- tra-mural program for the girls. We wish her continued success in her future years at Car- negie. The students should be deeply grateful to this group for providing such a well-rounded athletic program. With the help of this fine organization,' all of our teams have been able to compile favorable records in all sports. First Row: Dr. Hickes, Mr. Logan, Mrs. Ball, Mr. Speziale, Mr. Zaney. Second Row: Mr. Cross, Mr. Stockum, Mr. Bandyk, Mr. Hartley.
