TIMELY WORDS FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT Th' ' ' ' is message comes to you in the midst oi the gravest crisis of our history. In this time of peril, the work of our public schools must not be cur- tailed or neglected. Our free schools were estab- lished for the preservation and the functioning of our democratic form of government. With- out the work of the schools, we should lose the very things we are fighting to preserve. XV4: dare not sell the day to serve the hour. This means that the public, regardless of cost or sac- rifice, will continue to provide you with the opportunity to secure .1 high school education. In view of these facts. your duty is clear. You can serve your country best by doing each day's work to the best of your ability and by rernain- ing in school until you have finished your course. The student who wastes his time is failing his country as surely as the soldier who fails to do NORMAN L. GLASSFR his duty on the firinv line, Try honestl and 'onf I , 1 v c sistently to meet your CULlI'lII'ylS challenge. XY'e wish to express at this time our apprecia- tion to you, the members of the Class of 1942. You have done your own worls well and at the same time have rendered splendid service to your school. You have provided the student body with excellent inspiration and leadership. XVe are con- fident that you will serve your community and country with honor to yourselves and to your school. lior eighteen consecutive years the Voyugrr has given us a cross section of the life of the school. This volume pictures our work and our activities intimately and delightfully and it will be enthusiastically received by students and faculty alike. XY'e congratulate the Staff, the sponsor and the class. I
