Greetings ARNEGIE HIGH SCHCOL has lived through a period of 40 years. During that time hundreds of the community's young citizens have been gnaduated and sent on to further preparation for careers of service. Where these graduates serve is told in the directory found elsewhere in this volume of the Voyager. This directory reveals most interesting data. One fact which impressed us most was the large proportion of graduates who entered higher institutions. ln' spiration to do so must have come, in part at least, from contacts made during the years of secondary preparation. Years ago statistics disclosed that about 10 per cent of high school students throughout the nation entered 'a College or University. In the same years, from 40 to 50 per cent of Carnegie High School graduates entered higher schools. Today the per cent of graduates from our high school who go on to advanced schools still exceeds that of the nation. We are giving below interesting facts on this subject: -s H Per Cent of Class Per Cent of Class Entering Colleges Entering All or Universities Higher Schools 1927 f 36.2 f 41. 1928 ' 46. 58. 1929 38.8 f 52.8 1950 32.3 47. 1931 22.3 ' 08.1 1932 17.3 40.4 1933 19.2 f .-12.1 1934 16.5 f 21.1 1935 f f f 17.9 f f f 27.3 As the present principal of Carnegie High School I compliment the Alumni and extend to them my greetings. I am gratined that for the past decade it has been my fortune to be associated with them. I also extend to the class of 1936, which has sponsored this anniversary number of the Voyager, to the Faculty, and to all others who have assisted in the publication of this year book my hearty good wishes. r IBA 'lf-gufa x ' 1 R.
