ms CARMICHAELS AREA Junior-Senior High School Carmichaels .Pennsylvania Timeless Opportunities ... As these pictures indicate, ac- tivities abound in our school. We study and work hard to learn what we need to know—as in Computer Studies—then we receive con- gratulations for it. We have the op- portunity to go to college or voca- tional school and expand our knowledge; we are also able to participate in band or in sports, as well as club activities and cheerleading. Through all of this we still have fun and a sense of camaraderie. We have all of the opportunities we need, but it is up to us to use them wisely. 2 Yearbook Staff Top—pictured are the people who worked to tie up any loose ends for production of this yearbook. The Ceremony directed by Mr. Plasko, began at 7:15 in the auditorium due to threatening weather conditions. Serious planning and organizations con- tributed to the fluidity and brevity of the program, making the confined and humid area bearable for the graduates and their guests. Mr. Harr introduced the following speakers: Dr. Zoldos. utilizing her educa- tional skills, constructed a final test which was unexpected, since senior finals were scheduled for May 24, 25. Pastor Hims made analogies between senors and biblical interpretation in his baccalaurate- commencement address. Mr. Ed Chess. President of the Board of Education, presented the diplomas to the senior class, (continued) 44 Rev. Moore ended the ceremony with the Benediction rite. (Pictured above top riflht). Opportunities are available for every student to develop attitudes concerning health care for himself and others. The Red Cross Blood Mobile came to our school and we donated blood to help save peo- ple's lives. When Dr. Allen came, he discussed facts pertaining to our eyesight, how to care for it, and products available for cosmetic reasons. We should try to remember what we have learn- ed, to help us through life and to help us help others. !f i - . 54 Our Dynamic Cheerleaders Top left. Varsity Squad: Row 1: Head—D. Cochran: Row 2: J. Junior And Senior Standing Committees The Sr. Standing Committee, with cooperation of the Jr. Standing Commit- tee, has determined that their primary ob- jective during the school year is to organize, finance, and make possible a gala event—The Sr. Prom. In order to ac- complish this task they have combined their efforts through various fundraising activities such as two Sarris Candy sales, a jewelry sale, hoagie sales, and various con- fectionary items. The money generated helps defray the cost of favors, entertain- ment. and meals; thereby, making it economically feasible for every student to attend the prom. One of these ac- tivities include an UGLY FACE contest. Students painted their faces and modeled them on stage to be judged for the ugliest face. After the judging the students were treated to a Halloween party. The unique costuming techniques by these students leave this staff at a loss for identification. Possibly you can perceive and make identification through loca- tion, physical characteristics, or by chance—a good guess! For the first time in the Car- michaels High School history, the Jr. High participated in a student exchange. Students from the County-section schools exchang- ed with Carmichaels Area students. The idea is to become more aware of the differences in other schools to improve and make our school and attitudes more flexible about our school. These girls practice hard for weeks, until the time they display their talents before a panel that will select those who will provide and en- courage team and student body spirit through victory or defeat. This year, eight girls exhibited qualities and performances during athletic events which helped spur our teams on. Above right are the girls showing their agility by doing one of the many poses used during athletic events. Above left is Tricia Ricco—Head, showing her stuff.
