l'l TE LIF -as-T .1-0. -Th -W T, ,J .,.-P' : r f W-wi-ww!-Wt ' , swf W' Wit mam' . .. r .4 1? if 6 After a long school-week filled with Iohnny Carson and sleepless nights at the books, Friday night finally rolls around. Everyone is ready to have a super time- but what to do? There are no basketball or football games, no big dates, a minimal amount of money, and Huckleberry's at Ball State. The decision is made to .cruise Carmel Town. After driving past Mary's and out to Screaming Bridge and back, stu- dents decide to get a Quarter Pounder twith cheesej and a hot fudge sundae at McDonald's-or, maybe, a pizza at Noble Romans. Around 10:00 p.m. the parking lot begins to fill up with all kinds of wheels from Mom's station wagon to Z28's. The management begins to panic and locks res- troom doors. Students enter to get a coke and something to eatg then it's back to the parking lot to socialize. So goes the life of a high school student. Parents consider Friday nights as time wasted. Students think of them as memories in the making. 5. The Number One Hangout for high school students, McDonald's, is filled to the brim on weekends. 6. Kelly Autry and Iim Ries step out for a night on the town. 7. A great place to get pizza, Noble Romans, does quite a business for the hungry high school crowd. 8. Pam Pratt. Carlsen Gibson, and Brian Nel- son enjoy themselves at ii Christmas party given by jackie Sol- mos and Kasey Cusick,

MARCHI C TC THE BAND It's seven o'clock on a chilly, foggy September morning. The sound of Mr. Blue's whistle is heard and once again faithful band members fall into order on the parking lot. As the cold air hits my face, thoughts travel back to similar days. Days when the air was stifling and the temperature hit a sizzling 930. A summer of Kool-aid, Band- aids, shouted commands, aching muscles, fun drills, and band camp fill my mind. The work and the sweat-what was it for? August 23-Band Day! Some- times it was hard to remember why I was putting myself through agony. I was always jolted back to reality by the choice remarks of Mr. Blue, Mr. King, and Mr. Loveall: Band, that was elstinkyln Keep Plug- gin ' My grandmother could march better than that! !'You looked better last Wednesday! 6'Well, that was good . . . but it wasn't great! You are a great band, we know it, you know it, now let's show the judges. Yes, and we did show the judges! We stunned the crowds in the morning and dazzled the judges with our night perfor- mance. Glowing proudly in our new uniforms, we had done our best. We sent shivers down the spine. With our heads held high, we carried the fifth place trophy home to Carmel.
