HUME THE CCLD or if ' , .Q ,.5 'L:J-J :ui i HUUNU5 THIS IS Irvin'-Y When Coach Dullaghan first came to Carmel, his dream was to build a football program known in Indiana for excellence. In 1975, his team was de- feated in the State Final by Valpo in a battle to the finish. Dullaghan never wore that silver reminder. He wanted the gold. Seventy-six and seventy- seven also brought winning seasons, but not the one Dullaghan wanted. As the 1978 season began to fall into perspective, many were a bit leery about what the new season was going to bring. Mark Herrmann was gone. Following close behind were the great big, malicious players such as Wally Iordan. After creaming North Central, the team removed all doubt. They were terrific! The players were pleased with their Number One rank- ing but were not about to let it go to their heads. They knew that the sea- son had to be played one game at a time. That same attitude carried them to the final game against Ft. Wayne Dwenger. There the gold shone brightly. At last, the pinnacle had been reached. Senior players were: D. Aurelius, I. Bejin, T. Bejin, D. Broecker, D. Dela- grange, I. Eaton, D. Fellmeth, I. Graves, I. Hare, M. Hartman, T. Hodges, R. Huber, T. King, B. Martin, K. Mullen, M. Myers, G. Reynolds, P. Sharp, R. Williams, M. Woodward.
