Cfdilfl Adfory Thirty-eight students enrolled in the Freshman class for the school year of 1947 and 1948. We started the year by electing officers. They were: President, Gerald Bryant: Vice-President, Philip Ramsey: Secretary, Nina Parsley: Treasurer, Virginia Winkley: and Sergeant at Arms, Dick McMichael. Mr. Ratliff was our sponsor. For the first semester we elected Donna Lou Donahue and Philip Ramsey for the Student Council. Our one and only class party was a wiener roast held at the home of Bill Simmerman. We lost one student who was Marilyn Ireland. At the first of the second semester we elected Bonnie Smith and Richard Miller for the Student Council. When time for the class tourney came, we elected Joy Logan, Nina Parsley, and Virginia Winkley for our yell leaders. We called ourselves the Blackhawks and black and white were our colors. Sam Inman was our student manager and mascot. Our coach was James Marple. We were defeated by the Seniors and the Juniors in the class tourney. The school year ended May Zl, 1948. There were thirty-nine in our Sophomore Class as we went back to C.H.S. in the fall of '48 for another school year. The officers that year, elected by the class, were: President Philip Ramsey: Vice-President, Dick McMichael: Secretary, Dwight Shoemaker: Treasurer, Frank Key: and Sergeant at Arms, Merle Frank. Our sponsor was Mrs. Bruenger. Nina Parsley and Donna Lou Donahue were elected for the first semester of Student Council. Our first class party, which was a wiener roast, was held at the home of George Neese's grandparents. The second party, given with a bonus we made by selling magazines, was a Christmas party held in the school gym. The third party and the last was a theater party in which the class went to the Lyric Theater in In- dianapolis and saw, I Shot Jesse James. Early in the year of '49 three new students joined our class. They were: Jerry Bender, Donna Miller, and Ruby Turner. Also at the first of the year we elected Dwight Trautvetter and Janette Davidson for the second semester Student Council mem- bers. As the Class Tourney rolled around, we elected Nina Parsley, James Marple, and Virginia Winkley as our yell leaders. We selected red, white and blue for our colors and Puppies as our name. Our coach was Merle Frank and our student manager was Jerry Henricks. The Juniors defeated us in the class tourney but we came back with a victory over the Freshmen. School ended May Zl. 1949. The Junior year saw the class with thirty-nine enrolled. The officers elected this year were: President, Dwight Shoemaker: Vice-President, Merle Frank: Secretary, Christine Kelley: and Treasurer, Bonnie Smith. Our sponsors were Miss Schipper and Mr. Rhine. Student Council members elected for the first semester were Jerry Bender and Annis West. As play time rolled around we selected Three Days of Gracie as the play and Miss Schipper and Miss Wolfe as directors. The play was presented on the night of November 29. Our first and only class party was held on the night of October 12 at the home of Jeanne Johnson. Our prom was held at the Lebanon Country Club on the night of May 12. We selected a red carnation as our flower and Live Today for Tomorrow as our motto. Nina Parsley, Jeanne Johnson, Donna Donahue and Virginia Winkley were chosen as class yell leaders, and Merle Frank was elected as coach. Our colors were blue and gold and our name was Globetrotters. Even though the Seniors beat us, we had a victory over the Sophomores. The year ended happily for now we were really Seniors. We started the big year with thirty-eight and graduated with thirty-one. A tragedy at the first of the year took George Neese, a beloved classmate, to whom this Pinnacle is dedicated. Officers for this year were: President, Norman Cox: Vice-President, Jerry Bender: Secretary, Christine Kelley: and Treasurer, Donna Lou Donahue. Roland Young and Christine Kelley were elected as members for the year in Student Council while Jerry Bender was elected by the entire student body as President of the council. Since Roland Young moved at the middle of the year, Merle Frank was elected to take his place in Student Council. We selected the American Beauty Rose as our flower and blue and white as our colors. Our motto was Character is the Cornerstone of Success. When class tourney time rolled around, we elected Virginia Winkley and Donna Donahue as class yell leaders, Norman Cox as student manager, and Clifford Cotton as coach. We chose the name of Puddy Tats. We defeated the Juniors and the Sophomores in order to win the class tourney. Our class play, which at this time has not been selected, will be presented early in the spring. Graduation night, May 18, will find the girls in white caps and gowns with blue tassels and the boys in blue caps and gowns with white tassels. Now that we are out of school, we shall try to continue to live up to our motto. 9
