Anew community unitwas organiz- ed which takes in a large portion of eastern Clinton County. The en- rollment in our high school has almost crowded 'us out of the building, which has served for the past fifty years. Plans are rapidly getting under way for a new building . We, the graduating class of 1951 will be happy to see a new building for the future classes of Carlyle High School. We wish to thank Miss Fern Young, our faculty sponsor, and every- one who has helped to make this annual possible. The Editors Z K7 l wish to extend congratulations to the Tomahawk Staff for including the elementary schools of our Comunity Unit l in this yearbook. The fine spirit that exists among the Faculty and student body ofCarlyle High School is a source of inspiration to those who are charged with planning the educational program For the Future . W. O. Tom has a terrific reputa- tion as awoman-hater. He wishes he could stop be- ing girl-shy, and meet nice girls like--well, take Babs S a nfo rdl Uoan Thompson.J His roommate, Oke, is a tremendous contrast to Tom. Oke loves girls. He adores them. And he's faithful to two and three at a time. Thinking that Tom has a hate on women, Babs Sanford decides she'll do something about it. She manages to change places with the girl who cleans up Tom's and Oke's room. This should give her a chance to work on girl-shy Tom-- and it certainly does. The impression Babs makes on Tom when he first sees her is about as unnoticeable as two planets crash i ng in mid-air. Then iust as something beautiful starts to develop between Tom and Babs, in comes Tom 's father with a girl from home. Tom's fathe r thinks the girl from home is just the girl for Tom. Babs is put on the spot when the girl she changed places with returns. The mix- up grows, and poor Tom wishes he could just evap- PLHU nuwmamiiimi orate out of it all.
