Our Principal A Message From 0ur Principal The first full year at Carlton Junior I-Iigh is drawing to a close. In this book you will find your story, the things you did, the way you dld them. While you glance through this yearbook, look for the people you know, those with whom you associated. They'll be here for they are part of Carlton life. Mr. Kennedy, our Principal, stood at the helm to guide us through our first year. He leaves this message to all of us: The year 1960-61', Kansas' Centennial Year, ushered in the birth year for all loyal followers of Carlton Junior High School. This yearbook will serve as a reminder of a great year ln the lives of students, teachers, administrators, Board of Education members, and parents. We at Carlton have initiated many things to improve the learning facilities and the welfare of each student I hope the motto that we adopted at our inception, We Strive for Excellence , will be with you always. I like to think of you students as starting out in life with the words of the poet ringing in your ears. Start out in llfe's fair morning with noble ends in view. Think of your future as a piece of white paper on which you may write your destiny with the short couplet ever in your heart: Life is but a sheet of paper white Whereon each of us may write A word or two, and then comes night.
