PATRICIA BURDEN Congratulations to the class of ' 2 for your initiative, for your concern for promoting Carlsbad High School, and for a job well done. It 45 my hope that the memories captured and neconded here will bring you happy reflections of your years in high schoof. T would Like to think that somehow your years at Carlsbad High School provided a striking four year moment where time stood still; the past and future blended; but only to heighten the things one Lives through at that time, in that place. If we, the faculty and administrators, and you, our graduates, have touched each other with a Little sentiment, a bit of intellect and some wisdom, then all of our Lives are ever s0 enriched by having knoum one another. As you Leave high schook, try to remember the feeling of friendship which drifts out of that sensitive allegory, Jonathan Livingston Seagull: But overcome space, and all we have Left is Here. Overcome time, and all we have Left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don't you think we might see each other once on twice. On behal{ of the staff of Carksbad High School may I wish you the best in Life as you take the future and make it yours. Sincerely, Chil Loube Patricia A. I also love to play softball in my spare time. I played on the J.V. Softball team in my sophomore year as pitcher and 3rd baseman. As far as my college plans are concerned, I have decided to attend Palomar College for my first year or two so that I will have time to better decide which university I really want to attend. Also, this way I will have more freedom to experiment with different types of courses. My major studies in college will be math and science related. I would like to thank my entire family and all my friends who have been very supportive and encouraging where my studies have been concerned. Also, I’ would like to thank all my teachers who have done an excellent job of provid- ing me with the best possible education. What I'd like to say to CHS students is that I hope that they will all strive for their goals in life and put out their best effort to reach these goals whatever they may be.” CALIF'ORNIA SCHOLASTIC FEDERATION CSF is a well-known organization that consists of about 21 members. To qualify for a CSF member, the student needs to maintain 10 points per semester. An “A” is worth 3 points, a “B” is worth 1 point, and a “C” is worth 0 points. The major goal of CSF was to raise and provide money for scholarships to give to the outstanding graduating seniors. This year CSF sold candy and popcorn in decorative tins and they plan to be doing more fund-raisers. CSF -Officers L to R-Treasurer, Stephanie Clau- son; Secretary, Joni Wiltgen; Vice President K. I am very lucky. I have the best family, school and classes I could dream of. Going home at the end of the school year is going to be very hard because I know most of you I won't see again, although I promise you I'll come back to Carlsbad some day. I wish ever- ybody, and especially the seniors, who were such great friends, good luck in the future. PIERRE ROUGEAUX FRANCE If one day you see me around, please don’t ask me: “What do you like the most here?” I honestly can’t answer your question. There is nothing I especially like because everything is new and attractive. For instance: The school’s system gives us the possibility to take most of the classes we like such as art or music. The weather here makes me so happy when I think of my friends in France prob- ably now going to school with an umbrella in their hands when I burn under the Califor- nia’s sun. All those examples, including peo- ple from Carlsbad who are so available and easy to meet, make my stay here a real good time. Carlsbad High School will stay for me the place where I discovered the U.S.’s life. Hoping I see you during your next visit in France, I tell you: Salut ... et a bientot. 105 ASSOCIATED STUDENT BODY COUNCIL President - Cy Kellet Vice Pres. - Robin Woodruff Activities - Dina Bear Student Services - Patti Regan Board Rep. - Asha Vyas Treasurer - Louise Johnson Asst. The Varsity finished the season with a 10-2 re- cord, placed second in the Avocado League, fourth in the C.I.F. IA Tournament and was the highest plac- ing IA school in the State Qualifying Tournament. Brian Whalen (200) and Alvino Martinez (185) both won C.I.F. [A Championships and both earned all- league honors. Bobby Elsasser finished second in C.I.F. but battled to a sixth place spot in the State Tournament in San Jose to close out an illustrious 4 year Varsity career. Other C.I.F. The season started slowly due to the loss of two var- sity wrestlers after the San Dieguito Tournament. Several others battled injuries to help the wrestling Lancers post their 9th straight winning season. This years seniors can look with pride to the fact that they have produced a 21 win, 2 loss, and 1 tie record in league over the past four years. They have won two championships and finished second twice. The Ju- nior varsity, while undermanned, still posted a re- spectable 3rd place League record. The Frosh wres- tlers proved to be the best group in three years and showed tremendous potential for next year. A key ingredient to the success of the wrestlers this season was the loyal and very dedicated support of assistant wrestling coach Danny Faasamala, a former C.I.F. champion for Carlsbad High. With a championship in 1979, a championship in 1981, the team is setting its goal already: “Three in 83”.
