'H-Im.. Studen t Council The personality of the Student Council may vary from year to year, but each new group is a definite and sincere representation of the best interests of the O-C High students. Each member of the Student Council assists in the prep- aration of the agenda for each day. Mrs. Morse stated that there was an unusual attempt on the part of the group this year to leave personal desires and opinions in the background as they have been exceptionally eager to offer help in any way possible to others. They proved to be a group of in- dividuals who worked enthusiastically and eagerly together. The first planned activity of the Student Council was the Flight to Success Commencement dance in the Spring of 1955. Last fall the Council purchased the high-fidelity player which is stored in the Student Council room and is used on many occasions. The Council sponsored the orientation program for the Freshmen, and Hello Week. The latter projects proved most worthwhile in giving the new students a good start in high school. Since the school has grown to such numbers, it was felt necessary and desirable to separate, for the first time, the alumni and students at the Homecoming Dance. It seemed Htting that the Fiftieth Anniversary theme was used for the dance. On March 23rd, the Student Body Carnival for the high school and college, jointly, turned out to be a gala affair. The Council handled the publicity except for individual booths. Decorating and arrangement of booths were handled by indi- viduals or organizations - no school supplies were used.
