football rated low before the season, 1971 varsity football staggered everyone by sweeping to a 7-2 record and coming within a few yards of taking the league championship, under bud sweet ' s coaching for the first time, the scots combined a passing-rushing offense mark- ing them as one of the great squads in school history, coach sweet said the team ' s winning attitude started with preseason
