No matter where you are, Or who you are; The sun will always shine. No matter how unkind, The words will always rhyme. People you know today; Some will drift away . . . Some will hang around. No matter how it’s found, “The End” can bring you down. The friendship that you’ve known; The friendship that you’ve shown. The times you laughed or cried. No matter how much the pride — Leaving it hurts inside. Thanks to the Cero Staff and their dedi- cated advisor, however, we have managed to boogie in style. The Cero Staff has done a terrific job on setting up for the dances, and they deserve a hand for their efforts. In behalf of the Rebel, we thank you for your endless efforts. SECOND ROW: Spooner, Pointer, Bash, Walker, R., Hayes, Glosser, Smith, H., Griswold, Chokos, Moorer, Vidaurre, Timms, Hinely. We commend this group of young men for their fine sportsmanship off — as well as on the playing fields. Their will to achieve physical fitness and to enjoy sports, marks them as dedicated athletes. Congratulations to them on behalf of the Rebel Staff. Lifeguards Walker, Bash, Driggers, Crosby, Moorer, Haymans, Williams, Olliff, Hodge, Morris, L. Take a dose look at these young men, my friends. It is this small group of cadets who risk their lives for the people who swim the “tide,” Notice their kind but stern facial features. These are the scars of their dedicated jobs. The stories are only told among each other, but these cadets are well known for saving lives. Of course, we could mention the time PEF had an asthma attack while searching for change on the bottom of the pool by the drain. There were six lifeguards on duty. Six, yes six, dove bravely into the water to save the poor guy. The only problem was that all six lifeguards, individually, were determined to save him. PEF was finally dragged out of the water, but not before he had nearly been water-logged by his rescuers. Their concern for water safety is known, and their rules are well adhered to. 55 Bus Drivers (l-r) Haymans, Griswold, Vidaurre, Driggers, Forio (Head Driver), SFC Hill (Advisor), Driver (Asst. Head Driver), Patterson. A vital necessity to the cadet corps is transportation. Under the fine coordinating abilities of SFC Howard Hill, these young men drive school vehicles to the various places the cadets need to go. From dental appointments in Orangeburg, to Drill Competition in far away cit- ies, these drivers sacrifice their free time to transport the cadets to their activities. Thank you on behalf of the Rebel for your meritorious service. 56 Flying Team SITTING: Timms, Driver, Smith, M. E., Shipp, Polk. STANDING: Sanford, Tankersley, Lee, Watts, Hurley. TOP: Grady, Smith, H. B., Forio, Chapman, Driver. A select group of cadets, the Training Cadre is chosen by the Senior Army Instructors. It is their job to train the new cadets entering the school each year. The length of the training period depends, naturally, on how fast the new cadets can learn. It begins two days before the old boys arrive, and ends approximately six weeks later. The Training Cadre came into existence in 1956, and has proven to be a valuable organization within the school. Once the training period has ended, the new cadets are assigned to companies and given new roommates. The REBEL would like to pay tribute to the men who gave their time to these new boys in order to teach them the basics of cadet life. 64 65 COMPANIES BN. COMMANDER: LTC Paul Forio EX.
