ADMINISTRATION PRESIDENT COLONEL JAMES F. RISHER Colonel Risher was born in Hampton County, South Carolina. Upon graduation from The Citadel he had to choose between a military career and one of teaching. Selecting the latter, he taught in Col- leton County and for two years was a superinten- dent of Ehrhardt High School. He began teaching at Carlisle in 1924, and four years later was made Headmaster. In 1939 he bought Carlisle, which was under a Methodist Conference jurisdiction, and in 1959 he purchased Camden, Carlisle's biggest rival. He has held many post of responsibility and should be 'Who’s Who ” in anybody’s book. , HEADMASTER COLONEL WILLIAM R. RISHER Colonel Risher was born in Ehrhardt, South Caro- lina, in 1927, attended grade school in Bamberg, South Carolina, and graduated from Carlisle in 1944. He went to college at The Citadel, and upon graduation in 1947 attended the University of North Carolina for graduate work. He began teach- ing at Carlisle in 1948, and became Headmaster in 1958. Colonel Risher is very active in all com- munity activities, and we are very privileged to have such a man as our Headmaster. 4

COMMANDANT OF CADETS LT. COL JAMES M. GRIMES Lt. Col. Grimes is a native of Bamberg and a graduate of Bamberg High School. He graduated from Wofford College in 1927 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a commission as an officer in the Army Reserve. He served in the public schools of South Carolina as a teacher and administrator be- fore coming to Carlisle in 1935. In his 33 years at Carlisle, he has served in many capacities, such as teacher, baseball coach, and administrator. At present, he is Commandant of Cadets, a post he has held for 26 years. He also teaches American History. ASSISTANT HEADMASTER LT. COL. WADDY THOMPSON Lt. Col. Thompson was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduate from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Upon gradua- tion from The Citadel in 1942, he became a mem- ber of the Carlisle Faculty. Lt. Col. Thompson served as Professor of Military Science for 24 years and now is Senior Army Instructor under the ROTC program. He is custodian of military property and in charge of drill. Through his efforts the CommiS’ sioned Officers Clubhouse was constructed and he advises the club members in all their projects. 5
