PRESIDENT Colonel James F. Risher Colonel Risher was born in Hampton County, South Carolina. Upon his graduation from The Citadel he had to choose between a military career and one of teaching. He taught in Colle- ton County and for two years was the Superin- tendent of Ehrliardt High School. He began teaching at Carlisle in 1924, and four years later was made Headmaster. In 1989 he bought Carlisle, and he purchased Camden in 1959. He has held many important positions in commun- ity and national organizations. Col. Risher has in some way helped or influenced every cadet coming to Carlisle. HEADMASTER Colonel William R. Risher Born in Ehrhardt in 1927, Colonel Risher attended Bamberg grade school and grad- uated from Carlisle in 1944. Like his father he too graduated from The Citadel. After his graduation from The Citadel in 1947 he went to the University of North Carolina for graduate work. In 1948 he came to Carlisle to teach and in 1958 he became headmaster of Carlisle He is very active in the community and takes a true interest in all the cadets. We are very luclcy to have a man such as this for our Headmaster.

PROFESSOR OF MILITARY SCIENCE Colonel Waddy Thompson Lt. Col. Thompson was born in Chat- tanooga, Tennessee. He attended high school in Notre Dame, Tennessee. Lt. Col. Thompson graduated from The Citadel in the class of 19T2. Upon his graduation lie became a member of the faculty at Carlisle. He has served as P.M.S. for the past 22 years. He teaches military classes, with each class meeting twice a week and is in charge of cadet drill and government prop- erty. He has gained high respect from the cadet corps in his years of working with them. COMMANDANT OF CADETS Colonel James A. Grimes Lt. Col. Grimes was born here in Bamberg and graduated from the Bamberg High School. He graduated from Wofford and was commis- sioned a 2nd Lt. in the Army Reserve. During World War II he was a Capt. of the South Carolina State Guard. He has been at Carlisle for 28 years. He serves as Commandant of Cadets and teaches American History. In the years he has served as Commandant he has be- come known for his extreme fairness in his work. We are proud to have him on the faculty.
