A second-place finish at the Pleasantville Invitational was the top effort for the boys' cross country team. Seniors Steve Day and Kevin Kielmann consistently were the top finishers for the Wildcats at most meets. The best individual time was turned in by Steve Day at Nevada with a 11:16 clocking. The team lost a dual meet with Nevada and placed second in a triangular. Other meet placements were fifth at Monroe and the HOI Conference; sixth at Clarke; seventh at Hoover; and eighth at Pella Christian, Ballard, and Nevada. Traci Hansen, Kelli Seger, Coach Dan McGrail, SECOND ROW: Tracy Benge, Kelly Bosch, Patty Claman, Jenny Parker, Sandy Claman, Mary Wedemeyer, Terri Sinclair. The young girls' cross country team placed third in the Heart of Iowa Conference, paced by the efforts of juniors Sandy Claman and Mary Wedemeyer tfourth and fifth, respectivelyi. Claman turned in th best time for the year with a 13:29 clocking at Nevada. Team placements included second at Hoover, third at Pleasantville, fourth at Monroe and Nevada, fifth at Clarke, sixth at Ballard, and eighth at Pella Christian. The team lost dual meets with both Southeast Polk and Nevada.
