The junior varsity softball team ended the season with 5 wins, 9 losses and 1 tie. The Wildcats won 2 of 5 confer- ence contests. Leading hitters were Brenda Gardner 93335, Joyce McElroy C.333J, Karen Harmer f.315J, and Nancy Shivers q.300J. Karen Harmer led the team in most runs scored and in RBI's while Mary Wherry had the most hits and Sandy Peterson the most stolen bases. Brenda Gardner got the most bases on balls. A new record was set by Lois Robbins with her .474 batting average. Other leading hitters were Frances Wilson with .3l1, Julie Keeling with .279 and Denise Saint with .26-36. Becky Beener scored the most runs with 28 while Lois Robbins had the most hits with 27. RBI leaders were Denise Saint with 25 and Lois Robbins with 23. Pam Gardner led in stolen bases with 13 while Frances Wilson received the most bases on balls with 22. Barb Brown, Lois Robbins and Debbie Watkins shared the pitching chores. WILDCATS IMPROVE TO 5-4 WE SEASON'S RECORD THE 6 Pleasantville 26 20 Roland-Story O 26 Ballard 16 Carlisle proved to be a tough opponent for all foes. The Wild- 19 Sguth Hamilton 27 cats led the Heart of Iowa conference in pass offense and were 32 Johnston 8 an exciting team to watch. What they lacked in size, they 12 Ngfth Pglk 36 made up for in aggressive defense and in a wide-open pro-type 6 Worr Marshall 14 offense. Carlisle finished the season with 5 wins against 4 12 Nevada 6 losses. The losses were all to teams who finished in the top 20 Adair Casey 6 eight teams in State Playoff point rankings. Most contests were in doubt until late in the final period. The Wildcats tied for fourth in the conference race with a 4-3 mark. Carlisle out- scored opponents 153 to 138 with Mike Prall scoring 54 points and Rick Davis 44. Top rushers were Mike Prall with 552 yards and Jim Gravett with 466. Quarterback Ron Anderson completed 82 of 198 passes 4410705 for a total of 1, O98 yards. Rick Davis was the top pass catcher with 39 receptions for 522 yards and seven touchdowns. Bill Harris and Craig Klein led the defense with 60 and 57 unassisted tackles. Three Wildcats were named to the first team all conference: Ron Anderson, Bill Harris, and Jeff Gatchel. On the second unit were Torn Heggen, Rick Davis, Mike Leeper, and Tom Keeling. The Wildcats lose 12 seniors, but they do return 8 lettermen for next fall. i
