They started the season by defeating Melcher, who has proven to be a tough opponent from year to year. They continued to roll over three conference teams, thus winning the championship trophy in the Des Moines River Valley Conference. The climax of the season came with a colorful and joyous homecoming victory over Urbandale. Carlisle placed four boys on the all-conference team and two on the honorable mention list. Phil Kline, center, Lester Hooper, tack leg Larry Ballard, Quarterback, and Dick Janssen, tackle made the all-conference team, while Howard Goodhue and Larry Cummings were given Honorable mention. We were very proud of our Seniors, Larry Ballard, Larry Cumm- ings, Dick Janssen, and Dwight Fetters, and we will mis these boys tremendously next fall. Larry Cummings, captain made the all conference team QDes Moines River Valleyl while Wayne Cope was given honorable mention- The over-all record for the season, or 10 wins, 14 loses was nothing outstanding, but definitely an improvement over last year. The boys had their good nights and they had their poor ones. The most consistent starting line-up included Merlin Prall and Larry Hughes at forward, Wayne Cope at center, and Larry Cummings and Larry Ballard at guard. Fred Canaday, George Hans, and Philip Kline also saw alot of action. Gerald Wells, a sophomore, made a very good account or him- self at center and the guard positions. There will be three of the starting line-up graduating. They are Merlin Prall, Larry Cummings. and Larry Ballard. 37 M Carlisle Opponent 39 Nggrggrginia 25 Bondurant ug 51 Hartford 49 Norwalk Z 60 Urbanda le gg gltoggis 63 71 Melcher 6h Pleasantville Zh 66 Bussey ig gggiggrd ig County Tourggmegts h 35 Colfax 5 9 Bb Hg?-gford M6 Melcher 51 M6 Lacona gi wells 51 St Msry'e o 'ax ' ' M2 Lacona 36 tt 58 Pleasantville MO Sectional Tggrngzggurant GIRL ' BASKETB LL The girls team had a good season again this year winning 26 games, while losing 3.
