Varsity Football The 1957 football squad had a more difficult goal to achieve than had any former team of C. H. S.-that of winning the South Penn Conference title for the fourth consecutive time, a feat never before accomp- lished by any conference team. A green line led by Bob Alspaugh and John Hutch- inson, plus the experienced backfield of Harry Julius, Leo Beam, and Charles Marks, electrified everyone by beating Mechanicsburg C27-73 and Hanover C19-OD in the last two games, to give C. H. S. the l957 confer- ence championship. Gary Knaub and Leo Beam were selected on the South Penn all-conference team with Bob Lewis and Charles Marks named to the second team. The 1957 team was unique in that team victories all through the season brought about the champion- ship. The Sweetheart of the C. H. S.
