SCA The SCA has worked hard this year to achieve the wants and the needs of the students ofCarlisle. The Council has had its problems, but it has also had its achievements throughout the year. A new project started by the council was the Snack Bar where the Council sells food during break and at games. This helps the students' hunger pains and puts a little extra cash in the SCA trea- sury for other projects. A favorite idea of most students is the special day once a month when school is different. Stu- dents wear blue jcans to school or do something a little different. A chorus was begun under the supervision of Mr. Wonson. Open SCA meetings brought the students closer together. Carlisle jackets and tote bags were sold to the students and faculty. Receptions were given for the visiting teams after the games. The Wednesday morning assemblies were taken over by the Council. Guests such as Jim Harrington from the Jesus Joint in Martinsville were asked to speak. A major change conducted by the Council was the reform in the old dress code to meet the requests of the students. Carlisle School 35 t .C ilmiilll gllinlf ...Q b .R R C DRIVERS EDUCATION Driver education for students in the ninth and tenth grades Was in- troduced to Carlisle for the first time this year. The course includes thirty-six hours in the classroom and seven behind the Wheel driving. The student body is grateful to Bob White Chevrolet Company for supplying us the new Chevrolet every six months. Through the use of the class- room lectures, textbooks, class projects, films, speakers, and actual driving it is our hope that we have developed mature driving attitudes, knowledge, skills, and habits to make Carlisle students safer drivers. 14
