611155 ffzsfary Msss Annse says st was twelve years ago sn September that the 53 Sensors were scared lsttle urchsns troopsng to thesr fsrst day of school but st doesnt seem half that long ago to the esght of us who have spent all twelve years at Carlssle and wsll recesve our dsplomas sn May Dorothy Bennett Joe Buffalo Arleta Isbell Bslly Ray Msl ler Albert Schafer Elbert Schafer Cecsl Stuart and Charlotte Tast are the students who have gone all the way through wsth the class of 53 Msss Joanna Edmondson a sweet lsttle blond hardly taller than we were coaxed us through that fsrst year Msss Peggy Buechley took over th resns s before e except etc when sounded as a sn our second year of schoolsng The followsng year we made bean bags and lack olanterns under the dsrectson of Mrs J D Martsn and almost wore out the erasers from dustsng them on the ssdewalks The next year we skspped across the hall to Msss Hazel Barrs fourth grade where we spent our recesses marchsng up and down the assles to the tune of Stars and Strspes Forever os playsng folk games Arkansas hsstory was an snterestsng part of our fsfth grade under Msss Wsllse Crymes She dsdnt call st msnsmum essentsals but every member of the class had to memorsze and spell correctly all seventy fsve of Arkansas countses and thesr county seats Mrs J C Rouse prepared us sn the ssxth grade for our trsp up stasrs where there would be no recess no grade school operetta and worst of all not even a desk we could call our own By the tsme we reached the seventh grade we had accumulated Bob Brstt Cecsly Coffelt June Fstch Joyce Godasr Janet Hardke Dale Hauk Lewss Hutson Etha Ann Kslgore Jenene Msller Juansta Morgan Bslly Joe Pryor Carl Raborn Melvsn Raborn Bob Roberts Dorothy Watksns Leon Wsllsams and Wslma Wsllsams Mrs Msnnse Hscks sponsored our class that year and taught us Englssh Mrs Mabel Myers led us through the esghth grade as sponsor and hsstory teacher As a study hall keeper though she taught everythsng from dsagrammsng to savosr fasre Our class enrollment sncreased sn the ns th grade after the addstson of Gaylon Colclasure Ruby Curry Chrsstsne Dansels Harold Dansels Mack Dansels Dorrss Ferguson Carlene Jones Bobby Plant and Dale Rouse Coach Fred Hardke was class sponsor that year We sasd goodbye to Alec and the old campus sn May and moved to the new C HS for our Sophomore year Mrs Sarah Barley taught bsology and sponsored the class ln March of that year Jsmmy Skarda en rolled Msss Johnnse Coleman alternately drove and coddled us through our Junsor year Bsll s Nsght Out our class play was a hst sn all three per formances We gave the 52 Sensors a banquet wsth a garden theme and decoratsons sncludsng alternate shades of psnk for ceslsng and walls sslvered trees wsth crepe paper apple blossoms and a bubblsng fountasn wsth real water Joyce Godasr and Carl Tanner old classmates and John Colclasure fresh though not too fresh from Detrost were added to the 52 53 roll Our Sensor sponsors have been Mrs Edsth Shannon our Englssh teacher and Msss Merdsth Landers the school counselor We cleared Sl 500 from the Halloween Carnsval for our Sensor me morsal scored a second vsctory sn the Annual Queen contest and bought refrsgerated water fountasns for the school At msd February we re enloysng Sensor prsvsleges of breaksng lunch lsne and sksppsng one study hall a day and looksng forward to the Sensor play exemptsons from fsnals on a B average and fsnally the Sensor trs As we look back over our hsgh school days we realsze that no matter how bsg a pscture of ourselves we leave sn the lsbrary no matter how smpresssve our Sensor memorsal no matter how sndsspensable we thsnk we are to the school Carlssle Hsgh has gsven us far more than we can ever hope to have gsven st JOE BUFFALO 7 , . . 1 I 1 1 1 .
