Students, today you are perhaps concerned about the problems of violence, poverty, human rights, pollution, authority, drugs, and what the future will hold for you. You are now in the process of determining the answers as to what the future will hold for you and others. I do not believe that you are so alienated that you are unwilling to play a productive role in today's society. We hear many people discussing the behavior of youth but 1 believe if your attitude is as it should be your behavior will be acceptable. I sincerely hope your attitude has been such that you have not wasted your time or spent it foolishly since you have been in school. I am positive you realize your future is up to you. Apply yourself and be proud of your accompli shments. I wish you all the success and happiness you deserve and I hope you will always feel assured that if the faculty or adminsitrative staff can assist you in any way we shall be pleased to do so. Mr. Joe Baker, Superintendent 17 MR. ROBERT WATSON Director of Pupil Personnel MRS. SUSAN HAYDEN Secretary DR. GARTH PETRIE Supervision of Instruction and Director of Curriculum 18 TO THE GRADUATING SENIORS I certainly hope that your four years at Carlisle County High School have been rewarding to you. Butitisalsoa time to look forward. Your education will continue in the years ahead - whether on a campus, at a job, in the home, or in a uniform. I encourage you to use your opportunities to the fullest - living to help others and to better yourselves, and wringing every drop of learning out of life's adventure. HAPPY Office Outfitters Since 1914 Royal Typewriters, Victor Calculators and A. B. Dick Duplicators Mayfield Kentucky SENATOR AND MRS. CAROL HUBBARD Mayfield, Kentucky Best Wishes to the Class of 73 The American forest still belongs to the American people. individually-owned forestland forest products industry forestland. And to a lot of people. To begin with, four million individual Americans own 39% of the entire forest-a forest that’s still three-fourths as large as it was when Columbus landed. Then, too, everybody shares ownership in that 19% of the forest owned by federal and state governments which supplies so much of the raw material for building our houses and cities and making our paper products. Westvaco Wickliffe, Ky. And when you add the 16 million acres of forestland that’s been set aside for parks and wilderness areas, and the land not suitable for growing commer- cial trees, the American people— individually or collectively—own 91% of America’s 761 million acres of forest. So if the forest industries seem to own more than their 9%, it’s probably because with re- sponsible, scientific management they’ve been able to make this 9% produce one-third of all the raw material we need for today’s wood and paper products, and still keep America green—and growing. 148 BUCKMAN’S m GROCERY THE COUNTRY KITCHEN Fancy Farm Kentucky LULU’S GRILL Union City, Tennessee Fancy Farm, Kentucky LITTLE JOE’S BAR-B-QUE REELFOOT Fancy Farm, Kentucky PACKING COMPANY CUSTOM BULLDOZING TO SUIT YOUR C TASTE |B Route 2 Fancy Farm, Kentucky Union City, Tennessee 149 DEENA PRODUCTS COMPANY A DIVISION OF LCA CORPORATION P.O.
