We remember the big things, yes. But too often we tail to remember the humorous and human everyday happenings which supply the spice to high school lite -f and to Carlinville High School. The year recorded in the pages that follow is only what each of us makes it. We are, after all, but modest candid cameras. Of course some of the posters tell down. This is bad. We managed the new conces- sion stand during football games. This is good. The workers didn't get to see the Cavaliers in action. This is bad. We sold many hot dogs and sodas. This is good. Some spectators had stomach aches. This is bad. Our Homecoming Dance was a terrific suc- cess. This is good. Fallen crepe paper had to be cleaned up the next day. This is bad. The janitors cleaned it up. This is good. But we had to help. This is bad. Meetings were held every Fri- day. This is good. We had to miss classes. This is bad? We'll be back next year putting up posters again, so see you then, because this is the end. 55 THE SMOOTH CURRENT OF DOMESTIC JOY l'An encompassing organization of girls -This sentence fragment explains the group known as the Fl-l.A. which, if you are speaking of active groups, certainly would be listed in the cate- gory of the most active. MEN OF THE WORLD Not fully understanding the tradi- tions of the PPA. one might think that the members had mixed up St. Pat- rick's Day with a day last September. At least to have seen all the green hands around school one would have suspected something.Actually it was just a friendly initiation of new mem- bers. While lectures, films, meetings, and various ag trips took care of the more serious aspects of the club, co- sponsoring the Snowball Dance and holding a hayride filled the bill from the social angle. The Future Farmers of America studied this year and will continue studying to complete their education for an assignment for to- morrow. Wearing clothes that aren't quite in fashion and lugging enormous signs behind them, they carry out a few duties for, shall we say, their older friends. After being the center of at- traction all day, these unusual looking students find that their big sisters have hidden talents in the realm of enter- tainment. The big sisters have also hidden something else-food for a party. Every girl involved in these activities will remember the friendship that is created, for, the hinges of friendship never rust.
