It was very important to our team to see the stands packed to capacity on the Carlinville side of the field and hear the vibrant voice of our freshman announcer, Sam Bertolet. Even though this season was cold and rainy, more fans turned out for the games than in the history of our school. If this policy continues into next year, our team will be even better than the Co-championship team of this year. ,I-ll4'j',I'4' not L'l1tll'flll'lQ' out tlicrc llt- missed his man that fur Row l, sitting: DICK XVOODROXV, JIM MAIITIN, JEIIIIY XYAL- TON. The first activities of the band were a Mid-Winter Con- cert and a candy sale which resulted in finan- cial success. Later in the year members of the band took part in the County Music Festival and district and state music contests where they received honors. They fed the hungry fans at the football games and also sponsored the annual Homecoming Dance. During the month of Ianuary, a March of Dimes Dance was given honoring Miss Ieanne Beachum, who was Miss Illinois of 1957. To add to the appearance of our school, the council went on a clean-up campaign and made posters to that effect. They also put up traffic signs in the halls to slow down speeding students. The Student Council tried to set good examples and be of help to their fellow students, and you might hear a Student Council member say, Without the guidance of our sponsor, Mr. Reid, we could not have accomplished this.
