As soon as they had discovered that the mighty seniors, the juniors, and the sophomores were just bluffing when they told, of the tragic happenings to venturesome freshmen, they were ready to take their places-as big as the next guy. They elected their officers,,and settled into the groove of the C.C.H.S. Way of life. We are really proud of our freshmen boys and their hard earned football numer- als. The class contributed to the HalloWe'en parade a float representing the Old Woman in a Shoe. In January the freshman dance was held, and everyone agreed that the freshmen could really put on a party! Although defeated they showed great promise. After that the boys really got down to business and won the next six games. In early November we played Feitshans on the home field, and were beaten 12-5 after a furious battle. The Cavaliers lost to Marquette, and then bowed to a powerful Gillespie team in the traditional Thanksgiving homecoming game. This has been a good season for the Cavaliers, whose hard work and sportsmanship net them the high admiration of C.C.H.S. and Carlinville. im rs Lett to 11gl1t Row 1: Norman Crouch, Bill Denby, Howard Williains, Jerry VanWinkle, Bill Griffiths, Jim W1tt111e1 Bob Hesseldenz Row 2: Alva Lewis, Dick McLaughlin, Jim Hartley, Jere Shanner, Dick Bomkamp, T. During the year there were three boys, Don Loges, Clarence Schwab, and Jim Hallbauer, wl1o re- ceived the distinction of being named State Farmers. Under the supervis- ion of Mr. McElhiney seven boys at- tended the National FFA Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. Donald Kasten Three young children -Lucy Ann Klaus, Dean Tetzlaff, Dick Woocli'ow After four weeks of long hard practicing, helping each other learn parts, of Worrying and thinking of the night of April 16, 1948, the Class of 1948 under the direction of Miss Stoddard, presented the play Professor, How Could You! The play, a three-act farce, was a huge success. It re- vealed the amusing predicament of Woman-hating young Professor Perry. ' 1 Catch Him! Fresh Air On the memorable night of Nov. 10, 1948, the juniors under the able direc- tion of Miss Stoddard, presented Fresh Air, a comedy farce. The play took place in a California park, the time was the present g the scenes were hilarious, and the occasion quite ticklish. From the play we learned that Raymond I-Iorky would make a Wonderful politician, that Helen Armour makes a cute mean little kid, and that Arlin Armour looks good even when he is a mess.
