IN MEMORIAM DACIE MOSES Reprinted with permission from the Minneapolis Tribune There were chocolate chips cookies, coffee and cribbage. It was a warm, well-lit place. It’s corny, but only through the small details of Dacies’s life can we ever hope to describe what she means to us. It is right that we should remember Dacie in such small ways, for her greatest secret was to take small moments and find joy and pride and wisdom in the tiniest of them. We all remember being the only person to show up for practice and playing cribbage with her for a hour. Dacie said she hated old ladies who complained about aches and pains, but she loved “‘her boys to pieces.’’ Her door was always open, and no matter how poorly we sang she would smile. We remember trying to hold rehearsals without her; how empty the house felt. To know Dacie is to understand. She is gone without great wealth, scientific or artistic achievement, but she left the world a more human, more generous place. The Knignts WWIALT EAP AN
