Girls in the Ollice Practice classes have the opportunity to operate the most recent models of all types of business machines. The Commercial Department trains students in all phases of the business world. Business Organization, Sales, Bookkeeping, Stenography, Typewriting, and Calculating courses give a well-rounded business background. Knowledge of the geography and products of other countries brings under- standing of the problems of these countries. Since business in modern times is international in scope, students who combine the study of Commercial Geography with business training are an asset to many firms. Employers require otlice personnel to be poised, well-groomed, and skilled. Social Science students watch history in-the-making on TV, as President Eisenhower is inaugurated on January 20, 1953. Students in Civics 2 plan a United Nations project. Understanding ol' the social, political and economic problems of other nations is the basis for world peace. 21

Students of French, German, and Spanish learn not only to read, to write, and to understand these languages, but also become acquainted with the customs and culturc of the people of foreign countries. In this mathematics class, students find that models and drawings are helpful in understanding geometry theorems. Those who plan to prepare for advanced study in the professions need a thorough back- ground in mathematics. Those who wish to master the fundamentals of business and ractical arithmetic, take a course in general mathematics. D Success in the preparation for any career, depends often upon a person's ability to read, to comprehend, and to express the English language. Students in this English class are exchanging ideas based on an assignment in American Literature. 23
