.911 mem oriam The faculty and students were deeply grieved over the death of Miss Neva Helen Teeters, who passed away on December 19, 1952. She had taught at Schurz for many years before transferring to Taft High School. From Taft she returned to teach in the Veterans' Department at Schurz and in September, 1952, had been reassigned here as a teacher of English. Those who knew her and worked with her will always remember her high scholarship, pleasing personality, good judgment, and interest in her students. Schurz has lost a fine teacher and friend. We live in deeds, not years, in thoughts, not breaths, in feelings, not in figures on the dial . . . Students of French, German, and Spanish learn not only to read, to write, and to understand these languages, but also become acquainted with the customs and culturc of the people of foreign countries. In this mathematics class, students find that models and drawings are helpful in understanding geometry theorems. Those who plan to prepare for advanced study in the professions need a thorough back- ground in mathematics. Those who wish to master the fundamentals of business and ractical arithmetic, take a course in general mathematics. D Success in the preparation for any career, depends often upon a person's ability to read, to comprehend, and to express the English language. Students in this English class are exchanging ideas based on an assignment in American Literature. 23
