Mr. Shinn, The principal of The Kelvyn Park Branch aT ThaT Time, had a very high regard Tor her. However, upon coming To The Schurz main building. she began Teaching higher maThemaTics and commercial geography. A member oT The D. A. R. and The daughTer oT a Civil War veTeran, Miss AbboTT has always been inTeresTed in missionary work and religious proiecTs. She Took an acTive parT in The aTTairs of many religious organizaTions, and is The possessor oT a diploma Tor leadership Training Trom The lnTernaTional Council ol: Religious EducaTion. MR.ARTHUR WEBB For many Terms-since l92l, To be exacT, Mr. Webb's Tamping has rung Through The TirsT Tloor corridors and his Turnace Tlames have Tlared high, casTing a ruddy glow upon The hundreds oT Teen'age workmen as They learned The prin- ciples oT Toundry shop under his guidance. Schurz sTudenTs recall Mr. Webb's insisTence upon TaiThTul perTormance oT Tasks assigned and honesTy oT accomplishment They Teel, as The Teachers do, ThaT Schurz has losT a Tine Teacher-one whose sTabiliTy oT purpose and sincere Teaching ideals can ill be spared in These Troublesorne Times. BUT as Time is The deciding TacTor, Mr. Webb has had To bring an end To his long career oT service. Mr. Webb was born in Syracuse, New York. He was educaTed in BaTavia, New York. aT Chicago's Old Division High, and aT Valparaiso, Indiana. For some nine years aTTer college, he was connecTed wiTh The Toundry business. Then came The urge To Teach school. His TirsT posiTion was aT Tilden Tech in Chicago. and, aTTer a shorT period aT Washburne, he came To Schurz. Mr. Webb came To live wiTh his wiTe and Two sons in Irving Park. His Two boys, Schurz graduaTes, are now married, and Mr. and Mrs. Webb delighT in Two grandchildren. When iT came To TuTure plans, Mr. Webb iusT looked inTo space and said briskly, We shall Travel To Canada and Mexico -and Then very humanly, and I shall indulge my lazy complex. ,
