ma d ardify wina omecoming game f4-0 After losing six straight games, the varsity broke SEASONS RECORD their losing streak against Lincolnway but then lost again in the final game to Rich. EAGLES The opening game was lost to I. C. , 31-2, with .Tay M0r1OCk scoring the two points. The Eagles were Z I' C' Elmhurst 31 hampered by the loss of Blaha and Kaehr. Coach 19 Plan? 26 Devine's boys looked good at Plano but over-confidence 6 Reavls 44 rattled their chances for Victory. The Blue and Gold 0 Oak Lawn 19 were routed once again and on the home field by 2 Morgan Park 13 Reavis 44-6. 0 BFemen 33 Another conference game positioned the Eagles 14 Iilncolnway 0 at Oak Lawn wherethey held down the Spartan attack 7 Rlch 21 the second half. The boys not only lost the game but also the services of Golias. Moving on the Morgan Park, the Eagles displayed a tough line on the ground, but in the air the defense was weak and the Big Red used this to their advantage. Final score was l3-2 with Sandburg's points coming on a block kick by Lonson. At Bremen, failing to score on several opportunities, the team was smothered 33-0. Returning home the Eagles won their first game against Lincolnway, adding to the homecoming festivities. Berryman and Lonson scored the touchdowns as Sandburg romped to a 14-0 victory. The season's last game brought Rich three TD's. Lonson's 30 yard pass to Whennen was good for the TD to bring the final score, Rich 21, Sandburg 7. Fans will remember Tom Lonson varsity captain, who was on the All- Southwest Suburban Team, Red Willeford, who played almost every line positiong inexperienced Dave Busch, who developed into a good line -backer, Speedy Paul Whennen and Dave Vance. All will be remembered as teammates on Sandburg's first varsity squad even though costly fumbles and lack of experience added to lack of depth al all positions produced a 7 loss and 1 win record.

Pep assemblies have a familiar sound, the encouraging cheers by enthus- iastic students. Then come the yells, greeting and sustaining the basketball and wrestling teams.
