Through llae com- bined ellorls ol lhese people-school board members, adminislralors, lacully, oll'ce and cuslodial personnel, sludenls and parenls-our school has changed and progressed lrom lhe opening days ol I954 lo lhe recenl June day when our school closed lor lhe sum- mer and lhe lirsl decade ol our hislory ended. Il has ollen occurred lo me lhal lhese people have never received due credil. Each year a slall ol sludenls and advisors work on a yearbook, which is known lo us as lhe Poel. Each year lhey dedicale lhe book lo some individual who has conlribuled much lo our school. As I lislened lo lhal meeling, I decided lhal il would only be lair lhal lhe lenlh anniversary issue ol lhe Poel be dedicaled lo lhose who have conlribuled so much during lhe pasl len years - lo all ol lhe sludenls, cuslodians, leachers, adminislra- lors, board members, ollice personnel and olhers who have given parl ol lhemselves lo our school in lhe hope lhal il mighl become a beller educa- lional inslilulion. My ideas have seemed lo haunl lhe yearbook slall lhis year, and lhey have dedicaled lhe IQ64 Poel lo all ol you who have been a parl ol our school lhis pasl decade. Dedication Carl Sandburg I-ligh School has achieved ils slanding in Chicago-area suburban high schools lhrough lhe ellorl ol a number ol people--lhe school board has helped eslablish and mainlain good principles and rules lor a schools operalion: lhe adminislralors and lacully have pul lorlh unceasing ellorl lo educale our young people and lo prepare lhem lor ,lheir lulure lile: cuslodians have helped creale a heallhy almosphere lor sludy and lun! parenls have volunleered lheir services lor music drives, PTA meelings, and many olher aclivilies: sludenls have made Carl Sandburg High School excel lhrough lheir achievemenls in lhe academic lield, in alhlelics, in music and in various olher lields. Throughoul lhe pasl len years all ol lhese people have had a common goal-our school. In lhe process ol developing lalenls and learning, sludenls have come in close conlacl wilh leachers. Teachers, in lurn, have worked closely wilh lhe adminislralors, lhe school board, parenls and olhers con- necled wilh lhe school.
