Drcimctics The Dramalics Club sponsored by Miss Thanholdl, is a social and educalional organizalion open lo all slublenls ol all classes. The purpose ol lhe club is lo creale and encourage an inleresl in all phases ol dra- malic aclivilies, lo give praclical experience in play produclion and speech conlesl worlc, and lo creale an apprecialion ol lhe lhealre by means ol field lrips lo professional performances, guesl spealcers, and special guesl produclions ol plays. The club meels on lhe second Thursday ol lhe monlh emphasizing leam worlc, necessary lor a worlhwhile produclion. The club spends much ol ils lime learning aboul slage, malce-up, slage crall, and lhe elemenls ol panlo- mime, impromplu silualions, and lhe readers lhealre. Oul ol our membership came a large number ol lhe new Nalional Thespian Sociely. Each summer a per- son is senl lo lhe Illinois Slale Drama Worlcshop. Two plays are sponsored each year. One is in lhe Fall and lhe olher is in lhe Spring. The Fall Play was 'The Mouse lhal Roared. ll is aboul a small counlry lhal declares war on lhe Uriled Slales lo gain loreign aid. They caplure a small weapon lhal can deslroy lhe world and win lhe war. The Spring play was Oklahoma and was in con- iunclion wilh lhe music deparlmenl. Il is aboul lhe people ol Olclahoma and how Oklahoma lerrilory becomes a slale. ll deals in parlicular wilh a love slory. The meelings have inleresling leclures by people in lhe dramalics areas as well as having parlicipanl meelings in a dramalic slcill.
