When we began the last lap of our journey our commanders were Sandra Hollo- way, Keith Dibbern, Gene Hadenfeldt, Linda Keller, and Barbara Grotz. Toward the end of our flight we landed on a small planet, near the moon, to give our play Little Jimmy Jones. On this planet also, we were honored as sen- iors at the Junior-Senior Banquet. Then we settled back in our flying saucer to continue on our way. Just before we arrived at our destination we held our Baccalaureate Services ana Commencement Exercises, they were held in the new auditorium. At last we reached our destination; but still we have many other destinations to reach, for as we reach one we have others to conquer. |gp 4 In the fall of 1954, thirty-two timid but brave, little freshmen, climbed aboard our flying saucer bound for the moon in search of more knowledge. Our space commander was Allan Melton. The co-commanders were Kay Caswell, Sandra Holloway, and Verdean Olson. The crew consisted of the following; Gene Hadenfeldt, Clarence Minor, Allan Tuma, Darold Tagge, Connie Hoffmeyer, Leda Stutzman, Wayne Veeder, Linda Keeler, Derlin Wooden, Keith Dibbem, Bill Baker, Dennis Schlund, Don Kluge, Clayton Perkins, Linda Ummel, Betty Beckler, Harlan Stutzman, Jerry Schweitzer, Janet Stairs, Allan Simmons, Barbara Grotz, Lorraine Eggers, Dick Hayden, Janice Bruhn, Margaret Spiehs, Frank Hawk, Jerry Fitzsimmons, and Alberta Quaife. During the course of our second year of flight we were attacked by Martians and the going got too rough for Verdean Olson, Clarence Minor, Jerry Fitz- simmons, Alberta Quaife, Allan Tuma, and Darold Tagge. So they transfer- red to other ships. Later we crashed into another ship and were able to pick up two survivors. Jeanette and Vigril Sorensen. We proceeded on with twenty-seven members. Kay Caswell was at the con- trols now. Co-commanders this year were Sandra Holloway, Linda Keeler, and Dick Hayden. Onward we continued, with a few members getting a bit airsick and some of us wondering if we would ever reach our destination. Frank Hawk, Wayne Veeder, Allan Melton, and Virgil Sorensen were transferred to different ships during the course of our third year. After changing commanders we find Dick Hayden at the controls. His loyal assistants are Sandra Holloway, Connie Hoffmeyer, Clayton Perkins, and Jerry Schweitzer. We continued our journey with a crew of twenty-four. At Planet X we stopped off to present our junior play Step On It Stan. “ While there we also held the Junior-Senior Banquet, which had the theme of Mardi Gras. During the summer of '57 Kay Caswell, Dennis Schlund, and Jeanette Soren- sen were lost in space. 18

TVctl We, the Senior Class of 58, Cairo High School, Hall County and the state of Nebraska, being in reasonably good health and of doubtfully sound mind, realizing the uncertainty of grades and the vacillating dispositions of our facul- ty members, do hereby make this, our last will and testament. To Mr. Nelson, The Senior Class wills their ability to study with high hopes that he may reach his cherished goal of being County Superintendent. To Mr. Hohnstein, the Senior Class wills their ability to always hand in make- up-slips before they are due with hopes that the students of '58-'59 do as well as we have in the past. To Miss Wimberley, the Senior Class wills their knowledge of marriage and a happy home with hopes that she uses it to the best of her advantage. To Miss Link, the Senior Class wills a tape recording of the words sit down, be quiet, and get to work, so she won't have to yell at the students so much. To Mr. Hagan, the Senior Class wills all their old bookkeeping papers with hopes that he can make heads or tails out of them. To Harold, the Senior Class wills all their candy and gum wrappers, and the floors that we scarred up in the process of ? } ? To next year's Seniors, we will our old debts, and if there is any money left you may divide it EQUALLY among yourselves. To next year's Juniors, we will our Scientific knowledge with hopes that they don't blow the new lab up! To next year's Sophomores, we will our good times and have hopes that they will go on through school with high honors as we did. To next year's Freshmen, we will our smiling personalities, our charming ways, and our excellent grades, in order for them to get along with both teachers and students. 20
